Chinese holidays...A cultural evening in the Faculty of Al-Alsun

The Cultural Committee of the Graduate Studies and Research Sector, Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain University, organized a cultural evening via video conference technology, entitled "Traditional Chinese Holidays", under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ashraf Attia, Vice Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Youmna Azmy, Head of the Committee.

Where Prof. Dr. Ninat Naim Ibrahim, a professor in the Department of Chinese Language, talked about the “traditional Chinese holidays.” Traditional Chinese holidays have a rich content and an ancient history, and it is an accumulation of the history and culture of the Chinese nation, we see the historical heritage of nations through the customs and traditions of the holidays, holidays in China vary and differ according to the fifty-six nationalities in China also vary in the ways of entertainment of the different national minorities.

Dr. Ninth, gave a glimpse into the famous traditional Chinese holidays, the most famous of which was the "Spring Festival". The Spring Festival is the first traditional festival in the Chinese lunar year (it falls between late January and mid-February of the Christmas calendar). In this holiday, family reunions, feasts, and when the bell rings at twelve o'clock, the sounds of crackers and fireworks rise to express the coming of the New Year, and on the morning of the New Year's Day, sacrifices are made to the gods.

Among the other holidays she presented is the Dai Water Sprinkler Festival, and she also reviewed the Dai people's customs of spending this feast, and on this feast they wash the Buddha statue and sprinkle water on each other to obtain blessings.

There is also the "Lanterns Festival", the "Mid-Autumn Festival" and the "Festival of serenity and Purity", each of these holidays has its own rituals, customs, and religious and social traditions.
