The Minister of Manpower, Muhammad Saafan, and Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, witnessed the "Women's Day" celebration organized by the University's Anti-Violence and Harassment Unit, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Abdel-Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Services and Environmental Development, faculty deans and professors, and Dr. Hind Al-Hilali, Director of the University's Anti-Violence and Harassment Unit, in the grand conference hall of the Faculty of Pharmacy. They opened a charity exhibition and honored ideal mothers, as well as witnessed a theatrical performance and choir at the university.
At the outset of his speech, the Minister of Manpower said: It is a great honor for me to participate in this celebration of the Egyptian woman, and as I seize this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to those in charge of this great scientific edifice for organizing this ceremony and celebrating the Egyptian woman who has always and always been throughout the ages a sincere gift to her homeland. He stressed that our participation in today's celebration reflects the keenness of the political leadership represented by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who pays great attention to supporting Egyptian women as they are the cornerstone of the implementation of the Egypt 2030 strategy for sustainable development, and this was evident in the installation of Egyptian women for eight visits within the current formation of the government, In addition to increasing the number of female members in the Egyptian Parliament to reach one hundred and sixty-four and twenty seats in the Senate, as well as launching a number of national strategies that affect women's lives, such as: the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Women 2030, the National Strategy for Combating Violence against Women, the National Population Strategy, and the national strategy for the elimination of circumcision and others.
In this context, the minister saluted the National Council for Women for its distinguished role in caring for and protecting Egyptian women in various fields.
The minister emphasized that what the Egyptian government has achieved recently, despite the challenges that the country and the world face due to the economic repercussions of the Corona pandemic, unemployment rates in Egypt decreased during the fourth quarter of 2020 to reach 7.2% of the total workforce, a decrease of 0, 8% for the same quarter of the previous year.
Here we must mention that the unemployment rate has significantly decreased among females, reaching 16.8% of the total female population in the workforce, compared to 22.7% in the same quarter of the previous year.
Saafan said: The Ministry of Manpower has always been supportive of Egyptian women in providing suitable conditions and conditions for them to work. This is done through the implementation of a number of programs and activities that raise awareness of the role of women at work, their rights and duties that have been approved by the constitution and the law, in addition to the establishment of the Gender Equality Unit. And the economic empowerment of women at the central level, which I have the honor to chair, which aims to achieve gender equality, eliminate all forms of discrimination against women in the field of work, empower women economically, as well as reconcile family duties with work requirements, and promote the principle of equal opportunities.
The Minister of Manpower expressed his confidence that the work plan of the Gender Equality and Women's Economic Empowerment Unit and the activities it contained will contribute greatly to addressing many issues and issues of concern to working women and supporting their more effective participation in the Egyptian labor market, and here I confirm that we welcome partnerships. With all the bodies and organizations concerned with issues related to working women and activating their role in the Egyptian economy.
He said: "The Ministry has been keen on providing women with the technical skills necessary to join the labor market by obtaining training programs in fixed and mobile centers, where 5,000 trainees have been trained in the professions of tailoring and sewing, computer maintenance, handicrafts, and hand carpets during the period from July 1, 2020 until now.".
He stressed that we no longer have a choice but that all future work plans and programs reflect creative and innovative solutions to support women's work and provide them with competitive skills, and stress the need for concerted efforts to support, protect and empower women economically and socially and support their efforts in various fields of work.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Manpower signed a cooperation protocol between it and the university, which will be activated in the coming period, especially with regard to cooperation in the field of people of determination and special abilities, through the "Egypt is more beautiful" initiative launched by the ministry to train and rehabilitate people of determination, to integrate them into The Egyptian labor market, in cooperation with the Enterprise Development Authority, and helping them to create small projects for them, especially women, and training sessions and meetings with them will be organized to train them in entrepreneurship, equip them and prepare them for the future.
The minister asserted that the Egyptian woman never hesitated to give, participate and defend her homeland, she was in the first ranks of the constitutional entitlements, taking advantage of her right as the influential element in society to participate in the development of her country and achieve its progress, with the feeling of a mother who is afraid for her children, especially in times of facing challenges. , Saying: "Egyptian women are able to take the right of the country at any given time."
At the end of his speech, the Minister of Manpower renewed his thanks and appreciation to the mother, the wife and the sister, the worker, but the woman in general, who instilled a smile and hope on the earth, and made a legacy of historical and cultural existence for generations that passed it on through the ages.
