The Faculty of Nursing hosts "It is not normal" initiative launched by the Women's Support Unit Against Violence

The Faculty of Nursing at Ain Shams University, in cooperation with the Women's Support and Anti-Violence Unit, hosted the "Mish Normal" initiative that the unit launched in conjunction with the global period for combating violence against women, which began on November 25 and continues until December 10, the day of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights.

Under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Sahar Musa Mustafa, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Prof. HayamRefaat, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Hind Al-Hilali, in cooperation with the Executive Director of the Women's Support and Anti-Violence Unit at the university.

In the presence of Dr. Amira Abdel Hakim, a member of the Provincial Committee of the National Council for Women and a member of the Arab Union for Women of the League of Arab States, Prof. Hind Fouad, Professor of Sociology at the National Center for Social and Criminological Research, Dr. Amira Abdel-Al, Clinical Consultant at the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit at the University, and members of the teaching and supporting staff, students and employees of the faculty.

         
   
         

The activities included an interactive seminar with students opened by Ms. Dr. Sahar Musa, Dean of the Faculty, who praised the role of the state and the role of the university in supporting women and the extent of the impact of the great support provided to Egyptian women by the political leadership in creating a stimulating and positive environment for women.

She also praised the mechanisms and strategies pursued by Ain Shams University in achieving safety and protecting women and creating a safe environment for them, and how to achieve strategy for empowering women, as women today represent 45 percent of university leaders.

Prof. Hind Al-Hilali, explained the role of the unit and the aim of establishing it as the first unit to combat violence against women in Egyptian universities 7 years ago, also explaining the mechanisms and strategies to support female students of all sects on campus, as well as supporting the leadership in taking strict measures against any form of violence and bullying, in addition to training courses What the unit is doing to target the development of women's capabilities within the university so that they are pioneers in their field and a motivator for society in line with the national strategy for women's empowerment, and also invited students to participate in those courses that are offered free of charge to overcome crises and develop their psychological abilities, art therapy, cyclorama, and entrepreneurship.

As confirmed by Prof. Hayamthat the role of state institutions in supporting women through laws and policies that support an end to violence against women within the Egyptian family.

         
   
         

Prof. Amira Abdel Hakim highlighted the role of the National Council for Women in supporting Egyptian girls and women, what are the initiatives and projects aimed at supporting the Egyptian family, and how to reduce domestic violence, where she highlighted the role of media and drama in addressing societal problems.

Prof. Hind Fouad referred to a problem in Egyptian society that depends on the wrong legacies, especially in some governorates, which is the marriage of minors and how it affects the psychological and physical side of women. They are children.

During the seminar, Hanan Badin, a media presenter on Egyptian TV, with his input to clarify the role of the Egyptian media as an influential tool in society in presenting problems and developing solutions to them, as well as his role in educating the Egyptian citizen about the negatives and repercussions that result from violence in all its forms, such as family violence and the resulting negative impact on the progress of society.

At the end of the symposium, Prof. Sahar Moussa and Dr. Hind Al- Hilali, honored the audience. Then, after the interactive seminar, a training workshop using the window technique was conducted by Dr. Amira Abdel-Al, a clinical specialist in the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit, in order to develop the psychological and physical capabilities of the students on how to overcome violence in all its forms.
