The President of Ain Shams University discusses ways of cooperation with Queen Mary University and Kings College London during his visit to the United Kingdom

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, continues his tour of the United Kingdom, where he visited a number of British universities, during which he was accompanied by Dr. Rasha Kamal, the Egyptian cultural attache in London.

The tour included a visit to Queen Mary University, during which he met with Dr. Colin Grant, Vice President for International Relations of Queen Mary University, Dr. Eunice Kokoris, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. Peter McCormack, Professor at the College of Medicine and Dentistry, Professor Mark Coddington, Director of International Projects, and Professor Anita Walton, Regional Director of International Relations at the university.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed their vision and the most prominent features of the strategic plan for international partnerships, as well as a presentation of the services provided by both universities to students.

The two sides also discussed enhancing aspects of international cooperation at all levels, including student exchange, teacher exchange, exchange of experiences in revising curricula and establishing joint scientific degrees in medical and engineering sciences, as well as in the field of legal sciences in cooperation with the English Language Division at the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University.

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini presented an invitation to Queen Mary University students to study Arabic and Middle Eastern studies at Ain Shams University and also to participate in summer schools at the Innovation and Creativity Center IHUB at Ain Shams University.

The discussion also touched on aspects of cooperation in establishing the Faculty of Political Science and International Business Administration at Ain Shams University.

Dr. El-Metini stressed the need to exchange experiences in the field of treating cancerous tumors and immunotherapy for the diseases that the world suffers from now.

During the visit of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini of King's College London, he met Dr. Rebecca Oake, Dean of Graduate Studies and Research and Professor of Genetics.

Where the two sides discussed enhancing aspects of cooperation by concluding twinning between the two medical faculties of the two universities and benefiting from the training of students in university hospitals.

For her part, Dr. Rebecca Oake confirmed the readiness to cooperate in the work of joint scientific research in cooperation with the Ain Shams Medical Research Center (MASRI) in the field of treating cancerous tumors and the importance of exchanging experiences in new treatments, as well as using STEM cells to find vaccines for some global diseases.

For her part, Dr. Rasha Kamal, the Cultural Attaché in London, praised the effectiveness of the discussions that took place during the visit, stressing the role of exchange visits and joint discussions between Egyptian and British universities in enhancing aspects of international cooperation and building bridges of communication across the Egyptian and English cultures because of their role in providing opportunities for academic exchange, and twinning efforts. And the development of joint academic degrees in a way that contributes to enriching educational services, scientific research and innovation in common areas as a step to open horizons for international cooperation in international projects and community initiatives that support the strategic plans of universities.
