The Faculty of Law concludes its international scientific conference on “Legal and Economic Challenges and Prospects for Artificial Intelligence”

The College of Law concluded its annual conference on “Legal and Economic Challenges and Prospects for Artificial Intelligence,” which extended over the course of the fourth and fifth days of November 2023. The conference was organized in partnership with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as the International Penal Law Society, in addition to the Faculty of Law, at Queen Mary University.

The conference was held under the generous patronage of Advisor Omar Marwan, Minister of Justice, who honored the conference by attending the opening session and delivering a speech in which he pointed out the importance of the conference’s topic and the results and recommendations that result from it, and the generous sponsorship of Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University.

         
   
         

In seven working sessions, the conference addressed the topic of artificial intelligence in all its legal and economic aspects. The conference sessions were chaired by a group of jurists, including Advisor Mohamed Abdel Mohsen, Vice President of the Court of Cassation and President of the Egyptian Judges Club, Major General Yasser Abbas, Vice President of the General Authority for Investment, and Prof. Atta Al-Sunbati, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Azhar University.

The conference sessions were attended by a large group of college professors, members of the judiciary, experts, specialists and researchers from various Egyptian judicial bodies, in addition to the participation of many researchers in Egyptian and foreign universities, including the University of Lyon (3) in France, Queen Mary University in England, the University of Luxembourg, Miguel Hernandez University in Spain, the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, Al Buraimi College in the Sultanate of Oman, and the International College of Law in Kuwait.

The conference sessions concluded with a final report presented by Prof. Yassin Al-Shazly, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies and Research and the conference rapporteur.

         
   
         

At the end of the session, Prof. Muhammad Safi, Dean of the Faculty and Chairman of the Conference, thanked the Faculty Vice Deans, Prof. Muhammad Al-Shafi’i, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ahmed Dehoum, Faculty Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Dr. Ahmed Khalifa, Director of the International Cooperation Office, Dr. Doaa Hamed, Lecturer of civil law at the faculty, and all members of the conference’s organizing committee, faculty staff, their assistants and employees.

The closing session included honoring the conference sponsors, and in the end, the Dean of the Faculty expressed the Faculty’s determination to commit to organizing the annual conference at the same distinguished level of prestigious international and local partnerships.
