An introductory meeting between students of the three distinguished programs, leaders of the Faculty of Arts, and program coordinators

Within the framework of the introductory meetings prepared by the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University with new students for the academic year 2023/2024, the faculty organized an introductory meeting between the students of the three distinguished programs with the credit hour system and the faculty leaders and program coordinators: (International and English Studies - Hebrew and Israeli Studies - Digital Technology for Digital Information “Geomatics”), under the auspices of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of the University, and Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Hatem Rabie, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Department Heads, and Program Coordinators: Prof. Nadia Hashish, Prof. Ahmed Salah, Dr. Mustafa Hashem, on behalf of Prof. Moawad Badawi.

         
   
         

The ceremony began with the student, Ahmed Abdullah, from the English Intermediate Studies Program, reciting verses from the Holy Quran. Then the attendees sang the Republican Anthem and observed a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs in Palestine.

In her speech, Prof. Hanan Kamel affirmed that the Faculty always seeks to communicate with students and complete tasks quickly in light of the digitization that all state institutions seek to achieve in order to save time and achieve ease and speed in completing tasks. It seeks to answer inquiries and provide sufficient information about everything related to the student. She urged students to seek Information from its official sources (student email, faculty page, student affairs department, display screens).

She also emphasized that the distinctive programs aim to develop the old departments, knowing that the same academic elite is teaching in the old and distinguished systems, and the distinctive programs also aim to meet the needs of the labor market, as for the expenses related to these programs, their purpose is to spend on improving and developing the service provided to the student and supporting the programs through continuous maintenance of equipment, renewing laboratories, adding new features to the current programs, and developing programs in the coming period, so you must maintain these resources in order to continue providing a distinguished service.

         
   
         

The Dean of the Faculty also motivated new and old students to participate in youth welfare activities and the Student Union, in addition to attending lectures regularly. For his part, Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, encourages effective participation in university life and investing in the available resources of libraries, laboratories, databases, etc., and working to benefit from them in building their personality and scientific weight and enriching their practical experiences in a way that qualifies them appropriately and makes them able to keep pace with the labor market.

He called on all students to review the university student guide, learn about the student’s responsibilities and duties, adhere to university behavior and etiquette, and practice all scientific, cultural, social, and sporting activities through the various families emanating from the faculty’s student union, which always achieves achievements and advanced ranks at the university level and at the level of Egyptian universities.

         
   
         

In this regard, he pointed out that the faculty administration welcomed and opened various channels of communication with students to adopt their ideas and suggestions, and to help solve all problems and overcome obstacles that they may face.

Finally, he wished all male and female students a successful academic year full of successes and achievements.

For his part, Prof. Hatem Rabie, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies and Research, said that the evaluation of universities is based on the number of programs they offer. He presented the services provided by the Family for Central Egypt, which he heads. They are present in all universities and provide student services alongside the Student Union. They are two sides of the same coin: In the interest of the student, he also urged students to adhere to university norms and learn about their rights and duties towards their college, and it is also in the service of all students.

Regarding the English and Inter-English Studies Program (IESP), Prof. Nadia Hashish about the program stressed that the program depends on studying in the English language and in credit hours, which is a unit of measurement for the courses, and the study is distributed over 4 levels to obtain the Bachelor of Arts degree. The program provides students with language and communication skills and offers a group of courses in language, literature, and translation of an interdisciplinary nature, in the fields of politics, law, economics, art, food, technology, and digital.

The program's policy stems from the vision of the Faculty of Arts to make the Faculty one of the best faculties of arts at the regional and international level, with regard to humanities studies in general and interdisciplinary studies in particular.

As for the digital information technology program “Geomatics”, Dr. Mustafa Hashem, Assistant Professor, Department of Geography, on behalf of Prof. Moawad Badawi, head of the department and program coordinator, stressed that this program came to meet the needs of the labor market, as graduates of the program enjoy many job opportunities in the fields of surveyor specialist in the Egyptian General Authority for Surveying and private sector companies, a specialist in geographic information systems and remote sensing, in geographic information systems units in government agencies and ministries and private sector companies, he is a spatial analysis and programming specialist.

The meeting also allowed a number of distinguished students to speak to present their experience in joining the program and their satisfaction with the service provided.
