Within the framework of Ain Shams University’s celebration of the golden jubilee of the victories of the glorious October War; The Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector organized a visit to the Association of Veterans and War Victims, where Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of Ain Shams University, led a high-level delegation of university leaders that included Prof. Gehan Ragab, Advisor to the Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, His Excellency Major General Hossam El-Sherbiny, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and the Deans and Vice Deans of the University Faculties for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, they are: Prof.. Mohamed Ragaa Al-Satohi, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Prof. Sahar Moussa, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Prof. Amira Youssef, Dean of the Faculty of Girls, Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Safaa Shehata, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education and Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Heba Shaheen, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Media, Prof. Youmna Safwat, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Prof. Hayam Refaat, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Prof. Hala Suwaid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Aladdin Abdel Halim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dina Farouk Abu Zaid, Director of the Media Center and Acting Vice Dean of the Faculty of Media, Prof. Wael Fouad, Professor at the Faculty of Education, and Prof. Rasha Badawi, professor at the Faculty of Education.
During her speech, Prof. Ghada Farouk expressed the university administration’s keenness to build bridges of communication and cooperation between the university and the various national associations and bodies, noting that this visit is an annual tradition for the second year in a row, praising the development and improvement she witnessed in the services provided by the association
The visit included a review of the history of the association’s establishment since the Palestine War in 1948, and then Mrs. Jihan Sadat laid the foundation stone for the association’s headquarters in Loyalty and Hope prior to the October War of 1973.
Major General Arkan Harb, Director of the Veterans Association, also reviewed the association’s goals, activities, and various social, health, and psychological services, which include war-injured people and people with disabilities. His Excellency also accompanied the delegation on a lengthy tour that included a visit to the physical therapy center, the prosthetic devices and movement aids factory, the Home for the Disabled, and the dialysis center.
A number of documentaries were shown about the activities and history of the association, as well as the heroics of the Egyptian army during the epic of the Great Crossing to Victory. The visit concluded with the exchange of commemorative shields between the two sides, with an emphasis on continuing joint cooperation in many fields.
