Within the framework of the presidential initiative "A Decent Life", the comprehensive development convoy organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at Ain Shams University succeeded in providing free medical service to 1,245 citizens of the Ahalina neighborhood (1) in Al Salam City, through the convoy's various clinics in specialties "Internal Medicine - Obstetrics and Gynecology - Children - Nose and Ear - Bones - Dental - Dermatology - Ophthalmology - Surgery - Early Detection of Breast Tumors."
Free blood pressure and diabetes testing was conducted on 450 citizens, as well as free medications were dispensed from the convoy pharmacy for 1,100 patients, and 27 patients were referred to receive free treatment at Ain Shams University Hospitals, under the supervision of professors of the faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Nursing.
The activities of the convoy also included a number of awareness seminars, namely: “Increasing community awareness about reproductive health, family planning, breast examination, awareness about self-examination, raising awareness about the dangers of addiction and its impact on the individual, family, and society, and awareness seminars for mothers about protecting their children from common accidents and dealing with them when they occur, performing the necessary first aid, breastfeeding and its importance, and proper nutrition.”
Where, Prof. Hiyam Refaat, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Nursing for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Fatima Jumaa Dr. Heba Mahmoud, and Dr. Nabawiyah Saleh from the Faculty of Nursing, gave lectures.
The convoy also presented an awareness campaign on rumors, “their definition, types, danger, and how to confront them,” which was attended by Prof. Dina Farouk Abu Zeid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication and Director of the ASU Media Center.
In addition to awareness seminars entitled “My Country is a Secretariat to raise awareness of the challenges facing society in light of global crises and awareness-raising on “Combating Violence against Women” and a Family without violence, presented by the National Council for Women, Cairo Branch.
(16) writing and (51) immediate exams were held for citizens wishing to be freed from illiteracy under the supervision of the General Authority for Adult Education in cooperation with the University’s Adult Education Center headed by Prof. Islam Al-Saeed, director of the center.
An awareness seminar entitled "The Importance of Continuing Education" was also organized.
The convoy included special activities for children, including “a puppet theater show- puppet making workshops - a plastic arts workshop, a drawing workshop with children to make a mural in acrylic colors - a birthday doll workshop - face painting.” Implementation of the General Administration of Children’s Culture, the cultural project for the new safe areas - the General Authority for Palaces of Culture.
School bags and tools were distributed to 200 orphan children under the supervision of the Misr Al Khair Foundation.
Major General Khaled Abdel-Aal, Governor of Cairo, had conducted an inspection visit to the headquarters of the convoy, which was held under the auspices of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of Ain Shams University, was received by Prof. Jihan Rajab, Advisor to the Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Major General Hossam El-Sherbiny, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for Community Affairs and Environmental Development.
