Under the patronage of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of the University and Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, yesterday, Thursday, Prof. Hossam Tantawi, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, held an introductory meeting organized by the Faculty of Archeology for new students for the academic year 2023/2024, in the presence of a group of Faculty professors, department heads, new students and their families. The meeting was organized by the Student Welfare Administration and the Faculty Student Union.
In his speech addressed by Prof. Hossam Tantawy for students and their families; His Excellency explained that the Faculty of Archeology has a program list in accordance with the latest international educational systems that meet the requirements and needs of the labor market, and is supported and supervised by an elite group of the best experts in the field of archeology in its various specializations.
His Excellency called on students to pay attention to the necessity of joining student activities, which Ain Shams University is proud of the local, Arab and international standing it has achieved in this regard and in various types of student activity, whether artistic, cultural, sports and others.
He also advised students of the necessity of constant and continuous communication with the Faculty and university administration through official, legitimate channels to exchange visions, take advice, or obtain answers to any inquiries, indicating that he is ready to receive any suggestions or respond to any inquiries directly.
He explained that the Faculty of Archeology embraces its children who are serious students who desire academic and practical excellence. He also thanked the parents for their support of their children throughout the high school journey all the way to the university stage.
His Excellency reviewed the most prominent departments and specializations offered by the Faculty that meet the needs of the internal and external labor market, as the Faculty offers 8 distinct programs that are the best in Egypt and were completely designed based on international standards, stressing that the Faculty provides summer training in museums and archaeological sites to provide greater opportunities to qualify its students for the market. Local and international work.
The faculty accepts high school students or its equivalent from Egyptians and expatriates to join the Faculty’s programs: ancient Egyptian antiquities - Greek and Roman antiquities - Islamic antiquities, in addition to five distinct programs with expenses - archaeological sciences and excavations - and management of museums and archaeological sites - the program of restoration and preservation of architectural heritage (which is... As presented by Prof. Sarah Nabil, Head of the Department of Ancient Egyptian Antiquities, and Prof. Noha Salem, Head of the Department of Greek and Roman Antiquities, reviewed an overview of the study in these two departments, the conditions for admission to them, and the basic subjects that are studied.
Prof. Ass. Dr. Nawal Gaber Muhammad, Assistant Professor in the Department of Islamic Archeology, is interested in studying Islamic antiquities in Egypt and learning about the antiquities of other Islamic peoples. Samar Hamdoun, Dr. Imad Ibrahim, Dr. Muhammad Ismail, by explaining the knowledge offered by these programs and explaining their difference from the rest of the programs and what will come back to the student when studying them, especially after graduation and in the labor market.
Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, Director of the E-Learning Unit, explained the electronic services provided to the student and clarified the importance of the educational platform owned by the Faculty on the main Ain Shams University platform, UMS.
