The Faculty of Al-Alsun organizes the orientation day for credit hour programs of the current academic year

The Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University organized an orientation day for credit hour programs, under the auspices of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of the University, Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, and supervision of Prof. Nasser Abdel-Aal, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, in the presence of a group of heads of departments, members of the faculty and the assisting staff, and a number of students and their parents, with the application of all intensive precautionary measures.

Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, said that these educational programs aim to prepare cadres of professional translators in the fields of translation, interpretation and translation technology, capable of meeting the needs of the labor market at the local, regional and international levels, and preparing specialists to fill various positions that need translation and interpretation skills, In addition to preparing cadres capable of contributing to the Arabization process in scientific fields such as medicine, engineering, science, mathematics, and others.

Prof. Nasser Abdel-Aal, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, at the induction day activities, stressed that the credit hour programs are in line with the inauguration of the new republic, and the establishment of all means of modern renaissance that the country is witnessing in accordance with the State Strategy 2030, stressing that the programs are specialized for teaching specialized translation in various fields, and are aimed at these programs provide a distinguished service to the student through laboratory equipment for the study of simultaneous translation. With the aim of qualifying a new generation of qualified translators to be the link between Egypt and developed nations, so that we can draw from them the knowledge and sciences that help in the renaissance of the new Egyptian state.

Prof. Hala Sayed Metwally, General Coordinator of Credit Hours at the Faculty, explained the difference between the semester system and the credit hour system starts from the certificate for each of them; Where the Faculty grants, in the semester system, a Bachelor of Languages in Literature and Language, while the Faculty grants the credit hours student a Bachelor of Specialized Translation, pointing out that the difference between the two certificates indicates the extent of specialization and refinement of the translator to qualify him for a specific specialization.

Prof. Ass. Ghada Abdel Aziz, Head of the English Language Department, and supervisor of the English-language in credit hours program at the faculty, explained the nature of the translation and interpretation program in English, and explained his focus on graduating a translator who specializes in either translation, or interpretation and translation, and is able to deal with all types of translation. With the latest trends and technologies, it is highly demanded in the labor market, whether at the level of international or local institutions.

While Prof. Marwa Tantawy, Head of the Italian Language Department, talked about the translation program specialized in the Italian language, explaining that the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports the department with 2 foreign experts to benefit students not only linguistically, but also to work on finding job opportunities for them, and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides the department’s library of the latest educational books And cultural and translation sciences for free, given that the department is one of the oldest Italian departments in the Middle East and its inception is linked to the establishment of the Faculty 1956-1957, pointing out that the program focuses on translation courses in various fields of life using technology to keep pace with the developments of the times.

She explained that the faculty signed two protocols for cooperation with the most prestigious Italian universities to benefit the student from scholarships to study abroad, and there is a selection of professors in the department who obtained a doctorate from abroad and who have experience in everything new in the labor market, as well as there are many job opportunities for the graduate, especially in the field of industry and commerce. But the student's skills must be developed through this program, which was specially prepared to graduate a student who is fluent in oral and written translation.

While Prof. Rania Hassan, Head of the French Language Department, declared to French Language Translation and Interpretation Program, as the French Language Department is the first department established in the Faculty and includes a large number of professors who have received international awards such as the Knight Medal from the French Embassy and international publishing awards, and some of them cooperate in translation Immediate with international organizations.

Graduates of the program can complete postgraduate studies in France at the École Supérieure des Translators and Interpreters.

It should be noted that the department cooperates with the Francophone University Agency by holding joint workshops for students and participating in international competitions organized by the agency.

Prof. Ass. Yasmeen Mahmoud, Chairman of the Spanish Language Department, talked about the translation program specialized in the Spanish language, and with him a group of professors in the department about the importance of the program and the possibility of supporting it through an agreement with the University of Salamanca in Spain to train new Egyptian students on speaking and listening through some of the graduates of the University of Salamanca via video conferencing technology.

She referred to the formation of a complaints committee to solve students' problems through a dedicated e-mail.

She stressed that there is a distinguished educational program that adopts creativity according to quality standards to meet the needs of the labor market and community service, to support the Egyptian-Arab ties culturally and scientifically with Spain and Latin American countries, by developing translation skills and research capabilities from and to Arabic, to graduate cadres of translators and researchers specialized in everything. Prof. Mervat Ali, Head of the Chinese Language Department, said that the translation program specializing in the Chinese language aims to provide a distinguished educational program that adopts creativity according to quality standards to meet the needs of the labor market and community service, to support the Egyptian-Arab cultural and scientific ties with China, by developing translation skills and research capabilities, To graduate cadres of translators and researchers specialized in everything related to specialized fields of translation.

The department has Chinese professors who specialize in teaching the Chinese language to foreigners. The department also holds many cultural activities and scientific competitions with the Chinese Cultural Center and the Confucius Institute under the supervision of the Chinese Educational Bureau in Cairo. The Chinese Language Department provides many scholarships for outstanding students, such as the Ministry’s scholarship to Peking University for a full-year study.

There are also many scholarships offered by the Chinese government to students of the Chinese language department to study Chinese language, culture and literature in Chinese universities, which provides students with a great opportunity to live in Chinese society and come into contact with the people of the language themselves.

Prof. Muhammad Nasr Al-Gebali, Head of the Russian Language Department, spoke about the specialized translation program in the Russian language, explaining the importance of studying the Russian language and the job opportunities it provides for graduate students, especially in light of the recent growing relations between Egypt and Russia, the establishment of many major joint projects, and the prosperity of the tourism sector.

He also emphasized the advantages offered by the credit hour program in the department, as it helps prepare a graduate capable of carrying out the tasks of a specialized translator, and where the student receives academic support and guidance throughout the study, as the department has several future partnerships that enhance the level of graduates and open before them unlimited fields of creativity in the field Specialization.

He mentioned that the Russian language department is the largest in the Middle East and Africa and is supporting new departments in Russian universities with young cadres.

Prof. Hend Asaad, Professor of the German Language Department and Director of the Quality Unit in the Faculty, Head of the German Language Department, in her speech by explaining that the ancient German Language Department at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, is one of the oldest and largest German language departments in terms of students, faculty members and supporting staff in Egypt and the Middle East and has A constellation and elite of professors specialized in translation and have extensive experience in the field of simultaneous and translational translation and have won several local and international awards and work with international organizations and bodies.

She explained that the new translation program is a distinguished educational program that prepares cadres of specialized translators and researchers in everything related to the field of specialized translation and meets the needs of the labor market and community service according to quality standards.

She referred to the university's important requirements of general cultural courses that refine the translator's personality and enhance his skills in professional practice in the labor market, which include important interdisciplinary studies for the translator in the arts, computers, history, geography, law, human rights, business administration, accounting, communication skills, musical and literary appreciation, and psychology.

As well as the compulsory college requirements in Arabic and English and the research hall, and the requirements of the specialized program, and then dealt with the grants offered to students from the German side, whether from the German Academic Exchange Service, Eldad, Erasmus Plus or German universities such as the Free University of Berlin.

Then, she talked about the international partnerships in the department to improve the classification of the college and the university. The department offers a joint master's program in specialized translation for the German and Arabic languages, in cooperation with the University of Leipzig, Germany. Students of the master's program spend a full semester at the partner university in Germany.

Her Excellency also clarified the regulations, study system, graduate specifications, general conditions for admission to the program, academic advising and evaluation system.

Prof. Omaima Abdel Rahman, Head of the Arabic Language Department, spoke about its Arabic language program, which is a distinguished educational and research program for graduating cadres of specialists and researchers in the Arabic language, its literature, and translation from and to it, according to the requirements of the labor market and community service, in keeping with the latest developments.
