The Faculty of Archeology and the Zaffran Museum at Ain Shams University receive the activities of the Children's University

Today, Tuesday, August 15, the Children's University completed its activities at Ain Shams University, under the auspices of Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Collaboration Sector, coordinated by Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, Deputy Director of the Grants and Projects Department and Coordinator of the Children's University at the university.

The Faculty of Archeology and the Zaffran Museum received 70 children from Children’s University, under the auspices of Prof. Hossam Tantawy, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, Prof. Mamdouh El-Damaty, Professor of Antiquities and the Egyptian Language at the Faculty of Archeology, Responsible for the Zaffran Museum and Former Minister of Antiquities.

And Prof. Mamdouh El-Damaty gave an introductory lecture to children about Egyptian civilizational communication and gave an explanation in which he dealt with the most important elements of the ancient Egyptian civilization and its contributions to the development of other civilizations and its cultural and civilizational communication with neighboring countries.

Also, Dr. Ahmed Naqshara, in his lecture to children, presented the method of deciphering the Rosetta Stone and the method of reading royal cartouches, with the aim of teaching children how to read the ancient Egyptian language.

Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, Deputy Director of the Grants and Projects Department and Coordinator of the Child University at Ain Shams University stated that the activities of the day included training children to write their names in the ancient Egyptian language in hieroglyphic script, in addition to holding a competition for the best handwriting. The children were divided into two groups, where the first group of them did the activity in the auditorium, while the second group visited the Saffron Museum, introducing them to the modern museum display methods in the museum, such as wearing augmented reality glasses (VR) with the exchange groups, and through this technology, the child can enter and roam inside the tomb of King Tutankhamun.

At the end of the day, the two groups gathered and brainstormed about the most important outputs of the educational process for the day, and the winners of the best handwriting competition were selected.

Dr. Noha Al- Rafei explained that the activities of the Children's University, which extend during the months of August and September, are considered a resumption of the sixth stage, adding that the Grants and Projects Department has allocated the auditorium of the Faculty of Science to hand over and receive the children participating in the events, in order to ensure the safety of children and facilitate procedures.
