Ain Shams University congratulates young researchers of the Faculty of Medicine for winning the award for the best master's thesis, the second best doctoral thesis, and the Egyptian Society of Cardiology Cup

Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Mohamed Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Azza El-Feki, Head of the Department of Cardiology, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, and the University Awards Office, presents their sincere congratulations to Dr. Mohamed Gamal Abdel-Zaher Khalil Shawa for obtaining the best master’s thesis, and Dr. Atef Khamis El-Gamey for obtaining the second best doctoral thesis, in addition to both of them winning the Egyptian Society of Pathology Cup Heart, on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, during a ceremony held by the association to honor distinguished messages in the field of cardiovascular diseases.

It is worth noting that Dr. Muhammad Jamal Shawa obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University’s College of Medicine in 2018, and obtained a Master’s degree at the university in the specialty of cardiovascular medicine in 2023.

His Excellency obtained the best master's thesis from the Egyptian Society of Cardiology due to the importance of the thesis in terms of subject matter, handling and its practical importance, which was entitled "Comparison between Ticagrelor and Clopidogrel in diabetic patients suffering from myocardial infarction in terms of blood flow in the coronary arteries and the risk of bleeding on the short term”, the thesis was conducted on patients attending Ain Shams University Hospitals.

It should also be noted that Dr. Atef Khamis Al-Jumayi obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Ain Shams University, as well as a master's degree and a doctorate from Ain Shams University in the specialty of cardiovascular diseases, and the topic of his doctoral dissertation was published in one of the international medical journals in the year 2023, as The topic of the message serves the Egyptian community and heart patients in the Arab Republic of Egypt because the topic of the message is related to the logistics of treating patients with acute heart attacks through the establishment of STEMI NETWOTKS that are able to treat these patients in a short time, which improves the results of treatment and saves the patient’s stay in intensive care and the hospital in general. It also reduces the death rate and improves the efficiency of the heart muscle, which makes it a national project that serves the public interest in the event that officials in the state adopt such a project.

Both of them were honored by the Egyptian Society of Cardiology, headed by Prof. Dr. Islam Shawky, Professor of Cardiology, Al-Azhar University and President of the Society, and by members of the jury consisting of Prof. Gamila Nasr, Head of Cardiology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University, and Vice President of the Society, Prof. Yasser El-Sayed, Professor, Department of Cardiology, Al-Azhar Medicine, Dr. Sameh Emile is a professor at the Cardiology Department at the Military Medical Academy.
