The Minister of Health inaugurates the second annual scientific conference on epilepsy, which is organized by Ain Shams and Cairo Universities

Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, Prof. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs, and Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, inaugurated the annual scientific conference on epilepsy in its second edition, which was organized by the Department of Neurology at the Faculties of Medicine at Ain Shams and Cairo Universities.

         
   
         

The activities of the conference included the participation of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Muhammad Ayman Ashour, with a speech recorded in audio and video.

         
   
         

This came in the presence of Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals at Ain Shams University, and Prof. Maha El-Sayed, Head of Neurology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, and Prof. Sally El-Khouly, Head of the Department of Neurology, Cairo University.

         
   
         

The conference was chaired by Prof. Mahmoud Hamida, Professor of Neuroscience at Ain Shams University, and Prof. Nermin Adel, Professor of Neuroscience at Cairo University.

         
   
         

In his speech, Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, said that university hospitals have the task of introducing new medical specialties because of their specialized research and medical cadres, stressing that Ain Shams Medical City will serve as a qualitative and advanced leap in new therapeutic specialties that serve patients and contribute to keeping pace with the country's strategic plans to improve the health system for all social strata.

         
     
         

He added that Ain Shams University hospitals have provided a successful model over the past years in eliminating waiting lists and providing healthcare at the highest level of quality and efficiency with international standards and for free, which is in line with Egypt's vision 2030.

The new conference dealt with the treatment of epilepsy, and some cases were reviewed and how the diagnosis and treatment succeeded in increasing the rates and percentages of improvement. The conference also dealt with MSA patients.

The conference witnessed a wide participation of neurologists and young doctors from inside and outside the Arab Republic of Egypt.
