Ain Shams University hosted a training course for exams of practicing the profession, which was organized by the Dentistry Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities for representatives of dental faculties in Egyptian universities, under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, on Thursday, May 18, at the I hub building.
Prof. Mohamed Diaa, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, at Ain Shams University, expressed his happiness at hosting the training course for the professional practice exams at Ain Shams University, stressing the importance of it for graduates of dental faculties, as it increases their professional capabilities and makes them more compatible with the labor market at home and abroad.
Prof. Mohamed Latif, CEO of the Health Council, for his part, thanked and appreciated the President of Ain Shams University for hosting the course, pointing out that the exam for practicing the profession is of great importance for those who have an academic qualification from foreign countries, as it enables them to identify their professional capabilities, even if they are below the level. They are improved, developed, and qualified to practice the profession, and this will be an incentive for the student before graduating to take the internship year seriously to reach a better level that qualifies him to pass the exam of practicing the profession.
Prof. Tariq Salah El-Din, Head of the Dentistry Sector at the Supreme Council of Universities and Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, at Ain Shams University, explained that the importance of the course lies in the fact that it works to qualify trainers to form question banks in a scientific way regarding proper measurement and evaluation for graduates of dental faculties to suit their capabilities. occupational and labor market requirements.
He emphasized that the other importance of the course lies in training trainers to become trainers in their different universities. The course also works to raise the level of measurement and evaluation in dental faculties in Egyptian universities.
He added that this course will be followed by many other intensive courses, noting that the duration of the current course is two days, the first day contains a group of lectures, and the second day includes a group of workshops working on collecting a wide range of questions in the question bank, and training the faculty staff on scientific methods of measurement and evaluation, because this is almost lacking in Egyptian universities.
Prof. Karim Al-Batouti, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry for Education and Student Affairs, at Ain Shams University, indicated that the Measurement and Evaluation Unit in Ain Shams Dentistry participates in the course by training dentists from various faculties of Egypt on measurement and evaluation systems and on ways to put questions.
He also explained that the course include lectures discuss the definition of good assessment and description of a good assessment tool, aligning the assessment tool with appropriate learning outcomes, highlighting the types of MCQs, guidelines for drafting Single Best Answer (SBA) elements, guidelines for building short essays, in addition to the use of SBA to suit the assessment of different competencies, the next day will be a practical training for the trainees.

The course was attended by 115 faculty staff from all public, and private universities and Al-Azhar University.
