The Department of History at the Faculty of Arts organizes the closing ceremony of the current academic year and honors Prof. Isaac Obeid on his ninetieth birthday

The Department of History at the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University organized the annual closing ceremony for the current academic year (2022/2023), under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty. The organization of the ceremony coincided with the celebration of one of its pioneers, Prof. Isaac Obeid, the pioneer of medieval European history studies, Dr. Khaled Hussein, head of the history department, Prof. Ahmed El-Sherbiny, President of the Union of Arab Historians, Prof. Tarek Mansour, Secretary of the Union of Arab Historians, heads of the divisions of the department, a group of faculty staff and the teaching assistant of the Department of History, and a remarkable and active presence of the students of the department.

The ceremony began with a fragrant recitation of the verses of the Holy Qur’an, then a visual presentation of the department’s activities. After that, the Head of the History Department delivered his speech, in which he welcomed the attendees and expressed his thanks and gratitude to those in charge of organizing the ceremony and to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of the department’s activities from the members of the History Department, the supporting staff and the students, then Prof. Ahmed El-Sherbiny gave a speech in which he emphasized the importance of history in consolidating identity and strengthening national belonging.

A visual presentation of the biography and scientific biography of Prof. Isaac Obaid was accompanied by a speech by His Excellency over the phone - due to his health conditions that prevented him from attending - in which he advised his students on the need to arm themselves with knowledge and knowledge and urged them to do their duty towards their university and their community.

After that, Prof. Ahmed Zakaria Shalak, Prof. Fathi Abu Seif, Prof. Tarek Mansour, Prof. Hassan Ahmed delivered words of thanks and appreciation to Prof. Isaac Obaid, emphasizing his pioneering role in the Department of History and his scientific, intellectual and cultural giving.

The ceremony included artistic performances presented by the talented students of the department, and Dr. Samer Qandil presented the ceremony.

In the end, the head of the department presented shields and certificates of appreciation to the celebrated professors, all participants in the various activities of the department, and the top and distinguished students.

At the end of the ceremony, all the attendees expressed their sincere thanks to those in charge of organizing the ceremony and directing it in a wonderful way, namely: Dr. Sabah Al-Bayaa, Dr. Mahmoud Abdullah, Dr. Sherif Imam, Dr. Samer Kandil, Dr. Omar Abdel Moneim and Dr. Haitham Qandil.
