"Knowledge Economy... for a Better Life" panel discussion on the sidelines of the opening session of the eleventh annual international conference of Ain Shams University

On the sidelines of the opening session of the eleventh annual international conference of Ain Shams University under the title "Knowledge Economy ... for a Better Life", a discussion session entitled "Towards Sustainable Health Care for a Better Life" was held with the participation of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, Mr. Mohamed Abdullah, CEO of Vodafone Egypt, Dr. Ahmed Hegazy, Director, Sanofi Specialized Care, and the session was moderated by Prof. Ehab Shalaby, President of D-Carbon Egypt, and Mr. Ahmed Emam, Head of Healthcare Sector at Vodafone.

In his speech, Prof. Mahmoud El-Metieini, President of the University, thanks Sanofi, which participated in activating treatment in skin and chest clinics at Ain Shams University Hospitals, and D carbon, which together carried out storage and re-analysis of remote treatment data for patients.

For his part, Mr. Mohamed Abdullah, CEO of Vodafone Egypt, thanked Ain Shams University for the invitation to participate in the university conference, and for the fruitful cooperation between the two sides.

During his speech, he reviewed the role of Vodafone in digital transformation in university hospitals, and added that Vodafone's experience with Ain Shams University was built on good foundations and plans, and the mechanization was accomplished in less than a year, with the vision of Professor, the university president, pointing out that the project covers 12 universities and serves 10 million Egyptian citizens, and there are other projects for digital transformation, such as the health insurance project.

He explained that the project is being implemented in light of many challenges, which places more responsibilities on our shoulders for the success of the experiment at Ain Shams University.

Dr. Ahmed Hegazy, Director of Sanofi Specialized Care, stressed that we need to provide new methods of providing health care while reducing emissions while the patient receives health care.

This was achieved through the telemedicine experience in partnership with Ain Shams University and D-Carbon, and thus Sanofi Egypt opens new horizons to raise awareness about opportunities to reduce carbon emissions from health care systems.

And Mr. Mahmoud Al-Khatib, Head of the Business Sector at Vodafone Egypt, gave a speech about the digital transformation project for university hospitals, pointing out that the world is now witnessing the fourth revolution, which is happening at the level of countries and institutions, which is the digitization of university hospitals and medical services, so that the project provides service to ten million Egyptian citizens.

Ambassador Hisham Badr, General Coordinator of the Green Initiative, expressed his happiness at being at Ain Shams University and congratulated Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin for the scientific degree that was granted to his Excellency during the opening session, and he reviewed the initiative, which was launched under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and the Prime Minister. Climate change may face its consequences for future generations. The initiative provided Egyptian solutions and the success of cooperation in the initiative.

A platform was provided to register green projects, and for the first time, cadres were provided and trained to work in smart green projects.

He urged everyone to participate in the initiative, participate in a green project, and spread awareness even in the far reaches of Egypt and housewives.

Preliminary results show the benefit of telemedicine and telemedicine consultations, as it not only shows a 74% reduction in carbon emissions, but also reduces disease burden to improve patient life.
