Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, awarded an honorary doctorate to the international economist, Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, within the framework of the opening activities of the eleventh annual Ain Shams University international conference, "Knowledge Economy... For Better Life."
This came in the presence of Prof. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs, a group of former ministers and public figures, and the honorable Council of Ain Shams University.
During his speech, Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, confirmed Egypt's pride in its venerable men who wrote in letters of gold the name of Egypt loudly and flutteringly in various international and international forums.
His Excellency reviewed part of Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin's rich history and his extensive economic experience over 30 years as an honorable model and an example to follow in every field of work or position he held, including, but not limited to, the position of Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund and climate pioneer of the Egyptian presidency. At the COP-27 Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change and his role as the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to finance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
In addition to assuming the position of Director of the World Bank as the first Egyptian and Arab to hold this high position.
His Excellency also assumed responsibility for the Ministry of Investment in Egypt from 2004 to 2010.
Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini confirmed that Ain Shams University did not grant, throughout its long history, an honorary doctorate, this high scientific degree, except for four eminent Egyptian personalities, and this is the fifth time, and he announced the decision of the university council to grant an honorary doctorate to Dr. Mahmoud El-Din.
For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin expressed thanks, appreciation and gratitude to Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, the vice-presidents of the university, the distinguished Ain Shams University Council, members of the teaching staff, the supporting staff, administrators, employees and students. health
Emphasizing his appreciation for the ancient Ain Shams University, which was established in 1950, and which excelled in many fields of science, arts and literature, congratulating the university on the opening of the Zafaran Palace Museum.
The ceremony included the screening of a documentary film that monitors Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin’s career, both locally and internationally, over 30 years, as well as his scientific and research contributions and his numerous initiatives in various fields.
