The start of the stage of manufacturing electric cars participating in the second Cairo International Electric Car Rally

 

The Academy of Scientific Research, Technology and Engineering of Ain Shams announced the start of the stage of manufacturing electric cars by 15 teams from different Egyptian universities in preparation for the final stage of the second Cairo International Rally for Homemade Electric Cars 2019, and the Cairo Rally competition is the first A technological competition that is the first of its kind in Egypt and the region, one of the initiatives of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and organized by the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, an initiative launched by Dr. Khalid Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research on May 18, 2017, and is part of the plan. Executive of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (2018-2022), which is part of the State's Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation and Egypt's Vision for Sustainable Development 2030, which aims to deepen local manufacturing, transfer and production of technology, and participates in the rally, which is hosted by the administrative capital. For the second year in a row, teams of engineering faculties from nile universities, the Higher Institute of Engineering on the tenth of Ramadan, The University of South Valley, Ain Shams University, Suez Canal University, Kafr Al-Sheikh University, the Military Technical College, the Russian-Egyptian University, Helwan University, Matariya Branch, and University Zagazig. About 310 students were presented to the competition this year, who were trained and qualified through a series of workshops and specialized training courses, followed by the presentation of their own design reports by participating teams, and the best teams were selected to participate in the final stage of manufacturing.

Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, stated that the Cairo Rally for Homemade Cars is one of the programs of a large project adopted by the Ministry of Higher Education through the Academy in the field of electric car industry and also includes the formation of a national alliance for local manufacturing of nutritious industries in The automotive industry aims to increase the proportion of the local component and the competition for the design and manufacture of a homemade electric car.

For his part, Dr. Majid Ghonema, Director of the Center for Innovation and Training that The Automotive Raly proves the success of the scientific research system, pointing out that Egypt has a vision in the electric car industry and that the car raly is just a step in this way.

Engineer Ali Hosni, head of the project, stated that the contestants are constantly evolving, especially after the training courses received in the previous period by a specialized team from the organizing body, which seeks to provide guidance and assistance to students to reach the best possible results, a competition that gives young engineers Egyptians have the opportunity to challenge their technical and creative skills in designing, building and developing the concept of electric car in Egypt.

Dr. Mohammed Abdul Aziz, Head of Automotive Engineering, added that the entire organizing team has a full vision for the manufacture of electric cars, noting that Ain Shams University had a major role in the design and manufacture of participating vehicles, with the support and funding of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research represented in Academy of Scientific Research.

The Cairo Rally of Homemade Electric Cars was held last year in the administrative capital after a strong competition involving 9 Egyptian teams, where the winning teams received prizes of 1 million Egyptian pounds, where roads, race tracks, spaces and stands were also built for spectators and spaces for the press.
