The Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun inaugurates the ninth session of the Young Researchers Forum, entitled " Modern Trends in Language Studies, Literature and Translation"

The Graduate Studies and Research Sector at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, organized a forum for young researchers in its ninth session, under the title "Modern Trends in Language Studies, Literature and Translation", under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Metieni, President of the University, Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, and the supervision of Prof. Ashraf Attia, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, in the presence of Prof. Hussein Hammouda, Professor of Literature and Criticism at Cairo University, Dr. Sherif Okasha, translator at the United Nations, and a group of faculty staff, teaching assistant, and researchers in Egyptian and Arab universities.

During her speech, Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty and Chair of the Conference, said that the Young Researchers Forum, which was launched by the Postgraduate Studies and Research Sector at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University over the course of nine years, presented distinguished results on the ground, and she continued that the forum had a wide impact on the level of scientific publishing and promoted the three scientific journals that it published. It is issued by the faculty to occupy advanced positions at the level of international classifications for international publication.

She pointed out that the forum, over the years, presented scientific research life with applied research that contributed to community service, which produced practical applications through the innovation unit that was able to create solutions to many challenges facing society.

She continued her speech, explaining that the forum, over the course of nine years, made recommendations that contributed to the development of the faculty's research plan, as well as an addition to the university's research plan with the aim of raising the university's global ranking in light of the Egyptian state's strategic plan 2030.

And she went on to point out the first production of scientific research presented by the forum during its recommendations to develop the educational process at the postgraduate level, as an advanced program has already been launched at the faculty, which is the first of its kind in the world, and it started working a year ago, which is the “Translation Technology” program, which is an advanced program contribute to the integration of computer science with translation sciences to develop the educational process for researchers in the field of translation and languages.

In Panama, a. Dr.. Ashraf Attia, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, and the conference rapporteur, said that the Young Researchers Forum aims to enrich scientific research because it is an important research and scientific platform in exchanging visions and ideas between researchers and specialists from various Egyptian universities, pointing out that the forum is held on three axes: the axis of language studies and the axis of Literary studies and translation studies axis. Each axis includes a number of topics and research ideas that deal with the reality and future of language studies, literature and translation, which will be discussed by the participants in the forum through research papers and discussions over a period of two days.

Prof. Hussein Hammouda, Professor of Literature and Criticism at Cairo University, said that the title of the forum is “large” that restores and completes the historical role that the Faculty of Al-Alsun has played and continues to play during its history since its inception in the fourth decade of the eighteenth century.

Pointing out that the forum seeks to present research that discusses the dimensions of cultural communication, the dimensions of the renaissance and its problems in the present, the renaissance and its movement, and future critical and comparative studies.

He stressed that the research field in the field of translation sciences has come a long way during two centuries to develop the language, the movement of translation, and our relationship with Western literature, indicating that the methods of teaching grammar still need to be reformed. We are responsible for developing and adapting our mother tongue to face the challenges of translation, while Dr. Sherif Okasha, translator at the United Nations, illustrated the definitions of translation in detail to reach the most accurate meaning through which the researcher can reach the role required to translate the written or read text to convey information with the help of modern electronic media accurately.

He continued by pointing out that translation is the dividing line between machine and human translation in order to know the appropriate ways to adapt artificial intelligence to serve the translator and the translation process in the future.
