A delegation from the German AQAS organization visited the Faculty of Dentistry for its international accreditation

Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, received a delegation from the German Aqas organization, in the presence of Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Muhammad Dia Zine El Abidine, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector, Prof. Rami Maher, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Karim Al-Batouti, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ashraf Abu Khalaf, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Rasha Khafagy, Director of the Center for Accreditation and Quality at the University, Prof. Ahmed Al-Banna, Director of International Relations and Research Office at the College of Dentistry, Prof. Ghada Abdel-Fattah, director of the international accreditation file at the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Abeer Al-Jundi, Director of the Quality Assurance Unit at the Faculty of Dentistry, Mr. Imad Ahmed Shalaby, International Accreditation Expert at the Ministry of Higher Education.

And Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini reviewed the establishment of the university and its faculties, and its presence in advanced positions in many international rankings, as well as new faculties and programs that include modern disciplines, in addition to partnerships with international universities, as well as the university’s research strategy and the university’s role in community service.

His Excellency also referred to the cooperation between the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Technical University of Berlin.

The visit comes within the framework of the efforts made by the Ministry of Higher Education to advance and develop the educational process. Following the accreditation of the Faculty of Dentistry at Ain Shams University by the National Authority for Quality Assurance of Education and Accreditation, the next step is the international accreditation of the Faculty by an international educational institution.

In this context, the faculty sought to communicate with an international accreditation body, and the faculty chose the German AQAS organization, which relies on accrediting educational scientific quality in institutions by adopting European standards ESG and European higher education standards EHEA.

Where the international accreditation project was submitted in December 2020, and the project was approved in April 2021, among the best projects at the level of university faculties, so the Faculty of Dentistry of Ain Shams University is the first government faculty to apply for international accreditation at the level of the Republic.

AQAS is an independent German institution accredited by the German Accreditation Council GAC since 2001 and a member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education ENQA and is listed in the European Register for Quality Assurance in Higher Education EQAR.

This accreditation provides joint cooperation opportunities between the faculty and its counterparts that follow the same quality standards.
