Within the activities of the International Week of Glaucoma (blue water), the Community Service Affairs and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, organized an educational symposium entitled (Beware of Thieves of Sight), with the participation of faculty students and employees, under the auspices of Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Prof. Hala Suwaid, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Amr Saleh, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine.
Among the activities of the symposium was for the first time the diagnosis, examination and treatment of glaucoma free of charge for students, employees and workers, and the infected cases were transferred to ophthalmology clinics in hospitals for treatment.
At the end of the symposium, a scientific lecture was given to physicians on the importance of glaucoma and treatment methods, where Dr. Hesham Gharib and Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim delivered lectures in the symposium.
Prof. Amr Salih, Head of the Ophthalmology Department, explained the activities of the symposium by explaining what glaucoma is (glaucoma), what are the causes of the disease, its severity, the groups most vulnerable to infection, how the disease can be detected and how treatment is carried out, advising the regular use of medications and periodic examination by the attending physician.
He also stated that ophthalmia was examined in hospital clinics for early diagnosis of glaucoma.
