For the first time in Egypt, the Membership Diploma Examination of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow -Part Two (MFDS PAR2) at the Faculty of Dentistry

On Saturday, March 18, for the first time in the Arab Republic of Egypt, and in cooperation between the Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University and the Royal College in the United Kingdom, the Diploma Exam of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow, Part Two (MFDS PAR2) in Dentistry, Ain Shams University, was held under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Abdel-Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and in light of Ain Shams University's keenness to support cultural and scientific cooperation relations with many international universities, as it opens more channels of cooperation with universities abroad in order to develop many programs And the new majors required by the labor market, and this comes in implementation of the directives of the political leadership to expand cooperation with international universities with a distinguished international reputation and standing; To benefit from its expertise in providing study programs of international quality.

For the first time in the Arab Republic of Egypt, where the Royal College of Dentistry in the United Kingdom found that dentistry, Ain Shams University has the material and human capabilities that are commensurate with holding this exam.

Prof. Muhammad Diaa said that the exam qualifies graduates to obtain specialized certificates from the Royal College, which qualifies them to obtain a specialized British fellowship, and that this was directed by the state to raise the level of graduates.

He also added that holding the exam today at the Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University is the beginning of fruitful and constructive cooperation with the Royal College of Surgeons in England, and that this is in line with the state's directions for cooperation with international universities to raise the level of education and scientific research in the Arab Republic of Egypt, indicating that the exam was attended by many Nationalities from Arab, Gulf and Asian countries.

   
   

Prof. Karim Al-Batouti, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, stressed the importance of the faculty obtaining this status and trust from the Royal College in the United Kingdom, so that dentistry, Ain Shams University, is the only faculty in Egypt that hosts this exam. The importance of this exam lies in raising the international classification of the college. Also, holding the exam in the faculty leads to improving the reputation of the college regionally and internationally.

As pointed out by Prof. Karim Al-Batouti, that the education and student affairs sector at the college worked hard during a full year to obtain the approval of the Royal College to supervise the examination work in the faculty.

He added that holding this exam in dentistry, Ain Shams University works to save a lot of expenses and hard currency that students spend to travel in order to pass this exam in the United Kingdom, which contributes to alleviating the burdens incurred by the Egyptian state in order to provide foreign currencies for that, especially in light of global economic conditions.

Professor Christine Goodall, Dean of the College of Dentistry at the Royal College in the United Kingdom, confirmed that the students’ enrollment after their graduation in the Fellowship Examination of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow in the United Kingdom, Part Two, enhances the knowledge and skills acquired during the first years of dental practice.

         
   
         

She added that the qualification is internationally recognized and provides an opportunity for successful students to join one of the largest international institutions.

Christine also expressed her happiness and the work team that the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons exam was held for this exam for the first time in Egypt, in cooperation with colleagues and friends from the Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University.

Professor Christine John Dahl added that she hopes that holding the first British Fellowship Examination at the Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University will be the beginning of continuous cooperation in the future, and she praised the warm reception and good organization that the college had in Cairo.

   
   

The team consisting of the Dean of the Royal College, examiners from among the faculty staff of the Royal College and the administrators organized the exam in partnership with the college team and under the supervision and care of Prof. Muhammad Diaa, Dean of the Faculty.

The exam was also supervised by a working team consisting of the team leader, Prof. Dr. Karim Al-Batouti, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Basma Gamal, assistant team leader and teacher at the college, Dr. Yasmine Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, team member and teacher in the Orthodontic Department, and Dr. Angie Noah, team member and teacher in the Prosthodontics Department.

The exam began at 11:00 am today, Saturday, and continued until 6:00 pm. The exam was attended by 25 examinees of different nationalities.
