This morning, Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Affairs and Environmental Development, Prof. Hend Al-Hilali, Director of the Women's Support and Anti-Violence Unit, Prof. Rehab Abdel Rahman, Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital and General Supervisor of the Safe Women Unit, received a high-level delegation from the National Council for Women, the United Nations Population Fund and the Spanish Embassy, within the framework of cooperation and joint protocol with Ain Shams University, to stand on the progress made and learn about the university's achievements in addressing violence against women, It also highlights the effective role provided by the National Council for Women to the Women's Support and Anti-Violence Unit, and the Safe Women Unit.
The reception was attended by Prof. Mohamed Reda Diab, Prof. Amr Taher, Professors in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and members of the Safe Woman Clinic, on behalf of the Spanish Embassy, Ms. Victoria Suarez Eva Leonardo - Counselor of the Spanish Embassy in Cairo, Ms. Maria Tarancon Sanz - Program Officer in the Spanish Cooperation in Cairo, on the part of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Ms. Frerica Mayer - National Representative For the United Nations Population Fund in Egypt, Mrs. Sally Younes Zohny, Projects Coordinator at the United Nations Population Fund in Egypt, Mrs. Mona El-Ghazaly, Director of the Anti-Violence Unit at the National Council for Women, and Dr. Amal Philip, officer of the safe women's units at the National Council for Women.
This visit comes to get acquainted with the mechanisms and strategies undertaken by the university to support women and equality within the university campus through the Women's Support and Anti-Violence Unit and the Safe Women's Unit at the University Hospital, and the logistical, material and administrative support provided by Ain Shams University to implement mechanisms and strategies to achieve a safe environment for female students and deter any form of Violence on campus, whether verbal violence, harassment or bullying.

Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, said that the leaders of Ain Shams University are not only concerned with deterring violence against females, but rather with regard to violence in general for males and females, and raising students' awareness of human rights, and that freedom is not in harming the other, but rather freedom comes with responsibility.
His Excellency added that the cases facing the Women's Support and Anti-Violence Unit are dealt with decisively and with a great deal of confidentiality, and full support is provided to them, in addition to the punishment that awaits whoever begged himself to do any abusive act on the campus of Ain Shams University.
The success stories of a number of cases of domestic violence were presented and places were provided for them in the university city.
Meanwhile, Ms. Rehab Abdel Rahman, Director of the Safe Women's Unit at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, said that the unit is the first unit to debate patients who are subjected to violence, whether physical, psychological or sexual, through a team of gynecologists, obstetricians, forensic, psychological and neurologists trained to deal with battered women. The unit debated 48 cases. This year, their ages range from 20 to 35 years. The unit provides them with all medical, psychological and social support, in addition to educating the patients who come to the clinics daily, and they are more than 500 cases, with the unit’s activity in the event that one of them is exposed to any kind of violence, whether domestic violence, harassment or Tammar, in addition to holding workshops and cooperation between the unit and the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit.
This visit was coordinated by Prof. Hend Al-Hilali, Director of the Women's Support and Anti-Violence Unit, is the first unit at the level of universities in the Arab Republic of Egypt to be established for this purpose, which effectively achieves the goals related to protection and women's empowerment. It has many success stories in protecting female students from violence and harassment.
The delegation also visited the Anti-Violence and Women's Support Unit to learn about the mechanisms used by the unit to deal with cases of harassment, bullying, or any form of violence. A presentation video was presented by showing how the unit works and its training methods, in addition to interviewing a number of volunteers. who have made distinguished contributions to the unit.
The visit ended with a tour of Ain Shams University hospitals and an increase in the safe women's unit at the Women's Hospital to get acquainted with the dynamics of work in the clinic through the doctors and the clinic's nursing staff.
