The Supreme Council for Community Service and Environmental Development, chaired by Dr. Mostafa Refaat, Acting Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, held its periodic meeting in the presence of a number of university presidents and vice presidents for community service and environmental development, at the headquarters of the Supreme Council of Universities secretariat, Cairo University.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Council congratulated Dr. Mustafa Refaat, for assuming the position of Acting Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, and wished him continued success.
The Council also thanked Dr. Muhammad Latif for his fruitful efforts during his tenure as Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, wishing him continued success in his new position.
In his speech, Dr. Mustafa Refaat expressed his happiness in cooperation with the members of the Council, expressing his thanks to Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, for his great confidence in him by assuming his new position.
Dr. Mostafa Refaat confirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the secretariat of the Council and Egyptian universities; While serving the development of the system of higher education and scientific research, community service, and work on the development of the environment.
During the meeting, the council reviewed a report on the role of Egyptian universities in the national project for literacy, as universities have contributed to eradicating the illiteracy of nearly one million citizens since universities were assigned this file in 2019.
This is a great achievement for Egyptian universities, as part of the community service that universities perform towards the surrounding community.
The council discussed the executive position of the national project for the development of the Egyptian family in Egyptian universities and support for the role of rural women pioneers.
The Council also discussed a proposal to launch a joint medical convoy for one of the Nile Basin countries, and the Council also discussed the criteria for the competition for the best environmentally friendly university during the year 2023.
The Council also discussed the organization of joint activities by universities at the level of universities in each of the regions of the Republic. To address the challenges facing the regions with regard to the file of climate change.
