The opening of the entrepreneurship and innovation conference from the perspective of the fourth generation of the industry at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Ain Shams University

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Ain Shams University organized the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Conference from the perspective of the fourth generation of industry, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, with the participation of the Technical University of Berlin, Germany, and in the presence of Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Eid Al-Rajhi, Advisor to the Minister of Environment, Prof. Dr. Diaa Khalil, General Supervisor of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Buhairi, Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Prof. Dr. Weam Mahmoud, Deputy Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

         
   
         

Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, confirmed that today's meeting is one of the fruits of the cooperation agreement between Ain Shams University represented by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, and the German Technical University of Berlin, which is represented by the Entrepreneurship Center at the Technical University of Berlin.

His Excellency added that under this agreement, many mutual meetings were held between the two sides, in addition to meetings with a number of industry parties from Egypt and Germany. Pointing out that the idea of entrepreneurship in general is a meeting of industrialists with ideas owners with the aim of transforming these ideas into applied ideas and emerging projects with the participation of the university.

He explained that a number of ideas that could be transformed into a startup company will be discussed. Pointing out that even ideas that will not turn into a startup company can be transformed into applied research that benefits the university and society, in addition to the idea owners benefiting from the experiences they will obtain during discussions and meetings.

Prof. Dr. Ayman Salih, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, indicated that today's conference is to discuss a path for cooperation with the Technical University of Berlin to implement a winter school at Ain Shams University and a summer school at the Technical University of Berlin, which includes a roadmap for granting a master's degree in entrepreneurship.

He explained that in the industrial society, in the future, companies will need technicians and workers with capabilities and competencies in key enabling technologies such as the Internet of Things, computing, big data, artificial vision and productive virtual simulation, cybersecurity, additive manufacturing (3D printing), robotics and sensors, which have become One of the basics of our current reality.

         
   
         

This means that we have to reconsider the curricula and content of higher education institutions, especially since we have an increasing number of students, indicating the disappearance of a large number of jobs in the future due to rapid and successive technological progress.

His Excellency also confirmed that Ain Shams University is working as quickly as possible to complete the infrastructure at the highest technical level. The information center of the university has already been completed with its own LMS system.

He also explained that the university is working to increasingly involve industry companies in various industries in educational and research activities. Some of them are members of relevant faculty associations, creating a network of work for internships and training programs.

In his speech, Dr. Eid Al-Rajhi, Advisor to the Minister of Environment, emphasized the importance of today's conference on entrepreneurship and innovation from the perspective of the fourth new industry, from an environmental point of view, as the Ministry of Environment is interested in the field of modernizing and developing industry in line with contemporary challenges, especially energy and water rationalization, reuse and recycling waste and maximizing utilization from it, as well as reducing carbon emissions and pollutants to the environment, enhances the concept and directions of the state in a green and circular economy.

Pointing out that today's conference comes after the success of the Egyptian government in organizing and managing the climate change conference, which is an important message to consolidate what was reached and negotiated during the conference to come up with applied and executive projects for the purpose of reducing emissions and defining mitigation and adaptation measures to climate change.

Emphasizing the support of the Ministry of Environment for innovations that aim to protect the environment and rationalize energy resources, which takes into account the economic dimension through its implementation, which is the most important dimension for workers in the field of industry, especially since many companies operating in the field of environmental fields have already started as entrepreneurial projects and experimental steps, especially as they depend on unconventional ideas at an appropriate cost to solve an environmental problem.

He also emphasized the Ministry of Environment's sponsorship of innovations that enhance the localization of technology in Egypt, which has become an aspired goal, especially with the current international conditions that suffer from challenges with regard to supply chains.

         
   
         

He added that the innovations that are sponsored through business incubators contribute effectively to the national income, in addition to supporting the tendency to rely on local ideas and technologies to modernize and develop industries and projects that the state is implementing and plans to implement with regard to desalination of seawater, treatment of liquid waste, recycling of waste, and rationalization of energy and water use and the localization of the industry of production units, need more work, linkage, and actual integration between scientific research and industry to provide innovative ideas and rational management of our natural resources.

It is worth noting that the two-day conference aims to connect researchers, students, and alumni with industrial partners, highlight innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of 0.4 Industry among students and local and international stakeholders to engage in educational activities, and attract new partners to achieve the goals of the project.

Many activities will be presented by a number of industrial and academic partners in Germany and Egypt in the field of the fourth generation of industry "0.4", over two days. The conference activities will be implemented in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship I Hub building, and there will be a live broadcast of the conference at the Technical University of Berlin.

During the conference, a series of seminars, panel discussions, and workshops will be presented and implemented by a group of industry experts and project partners in Egypt and Germany. The conference aims to attract students in their last academic years, recent graduates, and researchers in Germany and Egypt.
