Within the framework of the keenness of the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at Ain Shams University to spread awareness to university students, and under the patronage of Dr. Environment, and Professor Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, the Community Service Affairs and Environmental Development Sector, in cooperation with the Solidarity Unit at the university, organized a symposium entitled "Combating Violence against Women", under the supervision of Prof. Gehan Ragab, Professor of Marketing at the Faculty of Commerce and Advisor to the Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Yomna Safwat, Vice Dean of Al-Alsun Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Rana Al-Hilali, Professor of Physical Medicine, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation and Executive Director of the Center for Students with Disabilities. Dr. Marwa Mandi, a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Arts, lectured at the symposium, and Professor Ahmed Ashraf, a psychologist at Doctors Without Borders, and the symposium administrators, Professor Yomna Safwat.
Prof. Gehan Ragab spoke about the role of the National Council for Women in spreading the culture of women's protection and empowerment, and emphasized the complaints telephone number of the Council.
The symposium discussed the issue of violence against women and its types, manifestations of violence, its causes and effects, and ways to overcome this phenomenon by providing some advice on preventive factors that must be taken to reduce violence, with the help of some real experiences, and a dialogue was opened with students, answering their questions.
The coordination and implementation team from the University's Social Solidarity Unit included Prof. Reham Abdel Rahman, coordinator of the unit, Prof. Israa Maher, Social Protection and Economic Empowerment Officer, Mr. Mohamed Abdel Wahab, responsible for awareness activities, and volunteers of the Social Solidarity Unit at Ain Shams University.
