Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received a report submitted by Dr. Taya Abdel Latif, Advisor to the Minister for Student Activities, and Chairman of the Higher Committee supervising student union elections, on the number of students applying to run in student elections at universities and institutes during the current academic year.
The report stated that student elections are witnessing a large participation by students during the current academic year 2022/2023, as 14,813 male and 13,397 female students nominated, with a total of 28,210 male and female students.
The report indicated the participation of 27 public universities, 16 private and technological universities, and 85 institutes in the student elections this year.
The report indicated that the academic year 2021/2022 witnessed the nomination of 26,793 male and female students, and the academic year 2020/2021 witnessed the progress of 25,178 male and female students, while the academic year 2019/2020 witnessed the progress of 24,864 male and female students, so that the participation of students during the current academic year is the largest participation of students during the years. Last.
It is decided that student unions will be formed by appointment in universities that do not have a quorum according to the regulations.
It should be noted that dr. Ayman Ashour had approved the schedule for the student union elections that will take place from November 24 to December 8, as the door for candidacy, withdrawal and submission of forms was opened on November 24, and appeals will be received today, Monday, November 28, and appeals will be examined On November 29, with the final lists announced on November 30, and the electoral campaign begins on the first day of next December. Committee secretaries and their assistants at the faculty level on December 6, and elections for the union president and vice president at the faculty level will be held on December 7. Student union elections will end with elections for committee secretaries and their assistants and the union president and vice president at the university level on December 8.
It is worth noting that the elections are monitored from the headquarters of the Student Activities Sector at Ain Shams University after the approval of the Supreme Council of Universities to establish a headquarters for the Student Activities Sector affiliated to the Ministry of Higher Education.
