The Minister of Culture, Dr. Nevin Al-Kelany, announced the winning project to participate in the 18th Venice International Architecture Biennale, which will be held from May to November 2023 in Venice, Italy. The best ideas for architecture projects that fulfill the theme of the exhibition were selected for this course titled "The Laboratory of the Future".
A team from Ain Shams University, in cooperation with an Italian university, was able to win the competition. The project will represent the Egyptian pavilion at the Venice International Architecture Biennale. The winning team consists of Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk Hassan, Acting Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Sami Abdel-Rahman, Prof. Dr. Rosa Marina Tornatora, Prof. Dr. Ottavio Salvatore Amaro, Mr. Moataz Samir Hassan.
Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, acting as Vice-President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, said that the winning topic bore the name "Nile Laboratory", given that the Nile combines the past, present and future, pointing out that the project aims to collect, diversify and cooperate.
She added that the project work team reflected the cooperation between Ain Shams University and Italian universities, and the idea of the project was implemented by students of dual degrees from some programs of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, in cooperation with Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria.
Her Excellency the Minister of Culture also handed over 6 certificates of appreciation for 6 distinguished projects chosen by the jury, which are the projects submitted by “M. Amr Ahmed Salah El-Din, Yara Mohamed Abdel-Rahman - Mustafa Khaled Mustafa”, and the work submitted by “M. Rami Samir Muhammad Akhmad, M. Muhammad Saad Abu Bakr, M. Muhammad Ashraf Rushdi Youssef", and the work submitted by "Mr. Hani Maher Ibrahim - Mr. Rana Hani Maher, M. Enas Mahmoud Fahmy, Mr. Muhammad Hassan Ibrahim, Mr. Dina Hisham Ahmed", and the work submitted by Dr. Muhammad Al-Sayed Al-Ibrashi - Dr. Hussein Essam Abu Al-Fadl - M. Gharib Muhammad Gharib m. Abdul Rahman Muhammad Saad", and the work submitted by Prof. Dr. "Jalal Muhammad Ubadah - M. Moaz Abu Zaid - M. Islam Al-Mashtouli - Cristiano Luchetti, and the work submitted by "Prof. Dr. Muhammad Alaa Mandour, Mr. Muhammad Ashraf Al-Sayed M. Maryam Fayek Aziz, Mrs. Aya Muhammad Ali, Mrs. Sarah Ibrahim Abdel-Rahman and Mrs. Lamis Essam.
"Al-Kelany" also honored the members of the competition jury, which includes a group of professors of architecture and decoration. Assistant Professor of Architecture and Dean of the College of Design and Media - Coventry University, "Mr. Onsi Abu Seif," Designer of Interior Design and Cinematic Scenes", Prof. Dr. Ayman Hassan, "Professor and Head of the Architecture Department - College of Engineering - Cairo University", Prof. Sawsan Murad Ezz Al-Arab, "Chairman Editing of Al-Bayt Magazine - Al-Ahram Newspaper, Prof. Muhammad Al-Sayed Abu Saada, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Organization for Urban Harmony, and Head of the Technical Secretariat, Dr. Happy Hosni, and the membership of each of Prof. Dr. Heidi Shalaby, Mr. Alaa Shaqwir, and Her Excellency the Minister of Culture inaugurated the exhibition of the competition's works.
It is noteworthy that the Venice Biennale/Biennale di Venezia is the oldest exhibition at the international level, which is held in Venice, Italy, every two years since 1980. It is one of the most important international architectural exhibitions and forums, and all countries are keen to participate in the Biennale.
