Distributing laptops to students with visual disabilities at Ain Shams University as part of the national initiative for equal educational opportunities

The Social Solidarity Unit at Ain Shams University organized a celebration under the title "Equal Educational Opportunities for All Initiative" to distribute laptops to students and workers with visual impairments, under the auspices of Her Excellency Minister Nevine Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, and with the patronage and presence of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.

The ceremony was also witnessed by Mr. Salah Hashem, Advisor to the Ministry of Social Solidarity for Social Policies and General Coordinator of Social Solidarity Units in Egyptian Universities, Prof. Gehan Rajab, Advisor to the Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Rana Al-Hilali, Director of the Disability Center.

During the celebration, (66) talking laptops were distributed to students with visual disabilities from different Faculties (Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Al-Alsun, Faculty of Law - Faculty of Business - Faculty of Specific Education) from different teams, and (4) laptops were handed over to university employees from People with visual impairment.

In his speech, he directed a. Dr.. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, thanks and appreciation to Her Excellency Minister Nevine El-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, and everyone who works in supporting outstanding students and people of determination in Egyptian universities

His Excellency also praised the generous initiative of the Ministry and indicated that the opening of a social solidarity unit within the university managed by the Ministry of Social Solidarity is a good addition to Ain Shams University, which began with a generous initiative from the Ministry of Social Solidarity aimed at supporting outstanding students and people of determination.

         
   
         

He pointed out that Ain Shams University has many private centers aimed at providing care and attention to students, especially students of determination, and it was able to meet the students' requirements well, especially when it cooperated with the Ministry of Social Solidarity with the participation of civil society institutions.

The university president added that the Ministry of Social Solidarity, in partnership with civil society institutions, gave Ain Shams University students this year laptops with international specifications and at a very high cost that will help them absorb study materials.

At the end of his speech, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini thanked and appreciated the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the contributing societies for the assistance they provided to students, especially people of determination, which motivates them to integrate and belong more within their communities.

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini promised students who excel academically, athletically and culturally, and people of determination, to increase the support provided to them every year through constructive cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and civil society institutions.

In his speech, Mr. Salah Hashem spoke on behalf of the Minister of Social Solidarity about social solidarity units within Egyptian universities and the support they provide to Egyptian university students.

He added that, based on achieving the principle of equal educational opportunities between students with visual disabilities and normal students at Ain Shams University, a laptop was distributed today to students with visual disabilities, equipped with a Braille program that helps them in achievement and exams, without an intermediary, and thus the student can express his abilities in a real way.

He pointed out that the initiative was implemented through the Ministry of Solidarity in cooperation with Orman Foundation in all Egyptian universities, under the direct guidance of the political leadership.

The celebration comes in light of the national initiative for equal educational opportunities for all and the protocol held between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Ain Shams University, and in light of the university and the ministry's keenness to pay attention to university youth, especially students with disabilities, and to provide all means of support to achieve academic compatibility.

The celebration was held under the supervision of Mr. Suhail Hamza, Assistant Secretary of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Mrs. Reham Ol-Atifi, Acting as Assistant Secretary of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Mrs. Reham Abdel Rahman, Coordinator of the Social Solidarity Unit.
