Prof. Abdel-Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, chaired the emergency session of the Council for Education and Student Affairs to discuss the procedures for student union elections for the academic year 2022/2023 according to the schedule announced by the Ministry of Higher Education, in the presence of the members of the Council, including deans and vice deans of faculties for education and student affairs, and the presence of members of the Supreme Committee. To supervise the elections, they are Prof. Walaa Anis, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Tamer Abdel Moneim Rady, professor at the Faculty of Commerce and the committee's liaison officer, and Mrs. Reham Al-Otifi, who is managing the work of the Assistant Secretary of the Education and Student Affairs Sector, and Mr. Ibrahim Saeed, Acting Director General of the Office of the Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and in the presence of Prof. Muhammad Al-Sharkawi, Acting Director General of the General Administration of Youth Welfare, and representatives of youth welfare departments at the university’s faculties.
Prof. Abdul Fattah Saoud formed the Supreme Committee to supervise the elections of student unions for the current academic year, headed by His Excellency, stressing the need for all the work of the electoral process to proceed smoothly and in accordance with all laws and regulations, and to complete and receive the required statistical forms and daily reports according to the schedule.
His Excellency also stressed the importance of ensuring that the candidate applying for nomination or casting his vote obtains the vaccination against the Corona virus, taking all necessary precautionary measures and measures, and providing all the necessary needs for preparing for the elections, including publications and written tools, to ensure the organization of the workflow.
During his speech delivered by Dr. Abdel-Fattah Saud, he emphasized that the electoral race has no winner or loser, but rather participation in itself is the gain, pointing out that the democratic experience of university students witnessed great maturity several years ago, reflecting students' awareness and awareness of their role in public work and serving their fellow students. He added that Ain Shams University is a serious university in all fields, which places the burden and responsibility on its student union.
Prof. Abdul Fattah Saoud stressed the need for students to practice the electoral process with transparency and integrity and amidst strict precautionary and preventive measures, pointing out that the students’ participation in the electoral experience inside the university refines their personality and educates them politically to qualify them to engage in political life outside the university and practice public work to serve society and the country to present our dear Egypt with conscious, educated and capable youth to engage in political and social life with awareness and awareness.
Then Prof. Tamer Rady, Advisor to the Vice President of the University and the liaison officer of the Supreme Committee for the Supervision of Elections, explained all the steps and procedures of the electoral process and responded to all the inquiries of the youth welfare officials in the faculties. The preliminary lists are announced on Sunday, November 27, then appeals are received and examined over a period of two days, then the final lists are announced on Wednesday, November 30, and the first round of elections begins in the various faculties of the university on the fourth of December, and committee secretaries and their assistants are elected at the faculty level in The 6th of December, and the president and vice president of the union will be elected at the faculty level on the 7th of December, provided that the president and vice president of the union and the secretaries of the committees at the university level will be elected on the eighth of December 2022.
