An Egyptian-Japanese celebration in Al-Alsun, Ain Shams, to receive books and references from the Japan Foundation in Cairo

The Department of Japanese Language at the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University, in cooperation with the Japan Educational Foundation, organized a celebration on the occasion of receiving twenty-four books on Japanese studies, which are books and references donated by the Japan Foundation, the Cairo Office for Scientific Research in Japanese Language and Literature and in Teaching Japanese, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, and in the presence of Ms. Ayumi Hashimoto, Director of the Japan Foundation in Cairo, a number of Japanese professors, faculty staff, the teaching assistants in the department, and a large number of students from the department.

During her opening speech, Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, said that the Department of Japanese Language in the Faculty is the oldest Department of Japanese Language in Egypt and the Middle East, and witnessed the graduation of a large number of Bachelor's, Master’s and Ph.D. students.

She continued her speech, stressing that the great support provided by the Japan Foundation to the Department of Japanese Language at the Faculty of Al-Alsun always bears fruit, noting that the Japan Foundation donates these valuable books and important references that are difficult to obtain in Egypt for the benefit of many faculty staff, the teaching assistants and students in the department, It is very welcome.

She continued, stressing that in light of the recent joint cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields presented on the world stage, we must develop the educational process of the Japanese language in Egypt, stressing that the Japanese experience in the rapid growth of its economy must be in constant contact to transfer Japanese expertise. To Egypt through the portal of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University, which was founded by Rifaa Al-Tahtawi for that purpose in the eighteenth century, and it was one of the factors of the renaissance of modern Egypt at the hands of Muhammad Ali.

After that, Mrs. Ayumi Hashimoto gave a speech in which she expressed her happiness with the joint cooperation with the Faculty of Al-Alsun, and with the support provided by the Japan Foundation to the Japanese Language Department at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, especially because of the high quality of education in this department in Egypt and the Middle East. Japanese language and the level of graduates being introduced to the labor market.

The celebration activities witnessed photo-taking for the Dean of Al-Alsun Faculty to receive a list of books donated by the Japan Foundation from Ms. Hashimoto. An inspection tour of the Japanese Language Department library was conducted and a look at the books donated to the department.

On the sidelines of the celebration, an online lecture was presented from Japan by Professor Kenichi Ono, Professor of Economics at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo and a PhD holder at Stanford University in the United States of America, entitled “Economic Development in Japan” focusing on the post-World War II period from 1946 to The seventies, in which he talked about the background and secrets of the rapid and great economic progress that Japan achieved despite its defeat in World War II, which later brought it to the second largest and strongest economy in the world after the United States of America.

Dr. Muhammad Abdul Rahman Asheba, a teacher in the Department of Japanese Language, moderated the session of the lecture, and gave a speech about the content of the lecture after its completion, expressing many thanks to Professor Ono for presenting this interesting and important lecture, which contained a lot of valuable knowledge and information about the economic development in Japan.
