Under the slogan "Mental health is a priority for all", the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University organized a lecture to raise awareness of mental illnesses, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Osama Mansour, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Hala Swaid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Maha Sayed, Head of the Department of Neurology and Psychiatry, during which each of Prof. Dr. Nahla El-Sayed, Prof. Dr. Mona Al-Sheikh, professors in the Department of Psychiatry at the Faculty. The lecture aims to educate the staff of the Faculty of Medicine and the university and its affiliated Faculties about mental illnesses for children, adolescents and adults.
Prof. Dr. Hala Suwaid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, stressed the importance of community awareness of mental illness and the role of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams, in cooperation with the Department of Neuroscience and Psychiatry in spreading awareness against mental illness by conducting several awareness lectures and convoys to help patients in various parts of Egypt.
In her speech, A. Dr.. Maha Sayed stressed the importance of paying attention to mental health and the person’s reaching a state of psychological compatibility with himself and others and his ability to face various crises in a positive way, and the importance of being aware of the signs indicating the presence of a psychological disorder that prevents one from facing his daily life in a proper manner, and the importance of seeking help in receiving psychological treatment in order to The benefit pervades the individual and society.
In her lecture, Prof. Nahla El-Sayed explained the psychological and physical effects of the pressures that everyone is exposed to due to the effects of the post-Coronavirus and economic conditions and how to deal with this difficult period.
Prof. Dr. Mona Al-Sheikh stressed the need to pay attention to the mental health of children and adolescents and early detection of mental disorders to cross them to safety in light of societal changes.
