A student meeting to discuss the prominent role of universities in supporting a decent life initiative

Within the framework of the activities of the cultural season at Ain Shams University, the sectors of community service and environmental development, and education and student affairs, organized a student meeting to discuss the "prominent role of universities in supporting a decent life initiative", sponsored by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, acting vice president for community service and environmental development affairs, and coordinating by Prof. Dr. Jihan Ragab, Advisor to the Vice President of Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and the supervision of Mr. Suhail Hamza, Assistant Secretary of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and organizing a family for Central Egypt students.‎

The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Taya Abdel Latif, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education for Student Activities, Prof. Dr. Jihan Ragab, Advisor to the Vice President of Ain Shams University of Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and a large number of students, and who speaking at the meeting: From the Foundation for a decent life Mrs. ‎Justina Tharwat Faik Abdel Malak, Head of the First Care Categories ‎Sector, Mr. Ihab Saeed, General Coordinator of Cairo Governorate at ‎the Good Life Foundation, Dr. Muhammad Saad Afifi, member of the ‎central office of the medical sector in the institution.‎

     
 
     

The meeting began with the Republican anthem, and an introductory video was shown on the presidential initiative "A Dignified Life", an umbrella for volunteer and development work in the presidential initiative, the meeting aims to spread the culture of community work among university youth, in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi

In his speech during the meeting, Prof. Dr. Taya Abdel Latif welcomed the attendees, expressing his pride in the university youth volunteers, stressing that the Egyptian society is characterized by a lot of sympathy and conscience among its members, as Egyptians are known for their love of volunteering and supporting each other throughout history, and that university youth have the responsibility to help their communities, and this is what Egypt expects from them, wishing success to all participants in the initiative.

Prof. Dr. Jihan Ragab thanked “For family” for their active participation during the meeting and expressed her happiness to be among these young volunteers, adding that Ain Shams University had a leading role in the initiative, as Ain Shams University hospitals receive many of the most needy cases to serve patients and support them, and Launch multiple convoys from Ain Shams University to provide support to these villages.

Mrs. Justina Tharwat Faik Abdel Malak, Head of the Primary Care Sector, explained that the Decent Life initiative started with an idea based on the dreams of the Egyptian youth, by preparing a comprehensive development plan to create a dignified sustainable life for the neediest groups by preparing a plan for field studies, monitoring the needs of families and villages most in need and listing the needs of families and villages. Natural resources and investment opportunities available to make the best use of them, the national political leadership has responded to the vision of the youth, as President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi launched in January 2019 the initiative, which represented a dream for all Egyptians, which aims to improve the quality of life for the neediest groups in all governorates of Egypt, and the Decent Life Foundation for Youth Cards was established on October 22, 2019.

     
 
     

Mr. Ihab Saeed, General Coordinator of Cairo Governorate at the Good Life Foundation, explained the history and objectives of the initiative, which works to develop villages into model villages that enjoy all kinds of services, improve the level of infrastructure and urban services, build the Egyptian person, and advance the intellectual, education and health level of the rising generations.

He explained the objectives of the national project, A Dignified Life. He also reviewed the plan of the national initiative during five years, which is targeting more than half of the population of Egypt, one national project, and the parties participating in the initiative, which includes 23 civil society institutions.

Dr. Mohamed Saad Afifi, member of the Central Office of the Medical Sector, discussed the modus operandi of the field monitoring, analysis and periodic follow-up unit and the medical unit for the initiative, which works on the medical side and directs medical convoys in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Health and the Supreme Council of University Hospitals.
