Closing Ceremony of the Innovation and Scientific Research Camp of the Innovation Club at the Faculty of Medicine

The closing ceremony and the announcement of the winners of the first three places during the camp activities were witnessed by Prof. Heba Allah Saeed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hala Suwaid, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector at the university, Dr. Mohammed Al-Behairi, Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Weam Mahmoud, Deputy Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Mustafa Al-Shahed, the academic advisor to the Innovation Club at Ain Shams Medicine, Dr. Islam Adly is a lecturer at the Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University.

     
 
     

In his speech during the celebration, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, stressed that the students’ participation in such events is a gain and an addition to them, regardless of winning one of the advanced positions, stressing his pride in the university’s talented students who are present in all the faculties of the university.

It is noteworthy that the Innovation and Scientific Research Camp is an annual event organized by the Innovation Club at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, with the aim of providing an integrated research environment for students that encourages innovation and creativity, and provides them with a real opportunity for the practical application of scientific research concepts and skills, and some of the creative ideas that can be It will be applied in practice in the future.

At the end of the camp, the winning teams will have the opportunity to receive extensive comprehensive training throughout the year to disseminate their research ideas and implement them in real life by providing the necessary support.

     
 
     

The Innovation and Scientific Research Camp for 2022 was held this year, hosted by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Ain Shams University, and lasted for three weeks, three days per week, starting in mid-August. 50 students from the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, were carefully selected from Among more than 380 applicants, through personal interviews that took place over the course of last April.

During the camp days, the participants received the equivalent of 60 hours of actual training and integration on the concepts of scientific research, entrepreneurship and innovation through interactive lectures and workshops. They also worked on completing realistic research ideas in training groups aimed at applying the concepts and skills learned during the different camp days and under the supervision of a special group of experts in the three different fields.

At the end of the camp, the participants completed their scientific research proposals and proposed plans to implement their ideas, and they were evaluated by specialized experts in each of the fields, in preparation for announcing the winners at the closing ceremony.

The first place was won by the TILAPINIO team, whose research is based on the use of fish skin, especially the type of "tilapia", in the treatment of burns. Approximately 11 million people around the world suffer burns annually, and 25% of diabetics suffer from delayed wound healing, and currently available treatments do not It comes with a satisfactory result, and recent studies have proven the efficiency of fish skin in treatment in all respects, especially the speed of healing and reducing the chance of infection and pain with a lower cost than other available treatments.

The HEALTHISM team won second place, which tried in its study to find the most common cause of obesity in Egypt to find the appropriate solution to treat the problem from its roots.

The Epilifu team won third place, which focused its efforts on conducting a systematic review to limit the research that went to ultrasound technology in the treatment of epilepsy and to determine the safety and efficiency of this technology on them, a technique that does not involve any surgical intervention. Many clinical trials have been conducted on humans and animals that I reached results indicating that this technique is one of the most promising technologies in the treatment of epilepsy, which affects 50 million people around the world, especially that the current treatment techniques have become not suitable for all patients, as epilepsy drugs have many side effects in addition to that. Many patients do not respond to medication, and surgery has many risks that cannot be overlooked.
