Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, visits the Drug Discovery Research Center at the Faculty of Pharmacy

Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research, visited the Drug Discovery Research Center at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Ain Shams University to inspect the developments witnessed by the center, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Badawi Sengab, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center and former Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Amani Osama Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dr. Khaled Abu Shanab, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, and professors and researchers at the Center.

During the visit Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Sengab, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center, reviewed the goals of the center and the most important services it provides, which come within the framework of the intensive scientific activity witnessed by the Faculty of Pharmacy and studying the biological effectiveness in the fields of anticancer, antifungal and antiviral, as well as providing technical services to researchers at the local, regional and international levels represented in conducting chemical, spectral, chromatographic and various biological analyzes using the resources in the center and providing scientific advice to drug companies and scientific institutions in the field of drug discovery and development locally. and regionally

   
   

His Excellency emphasized the conclusion of cooperation agreements with universities, institutes and research centers working in this field inside and outside the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Sengab explained the objectives of the Research Station Medicinal Plants, where among its objectives are the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants for use in the center, exposing these different plants to growing conditions and conducting research studies to reach the best conditions for the production of active substances.

It is worth mentioning that the research team based on the Medicinal Plants Research Station is from the faculty members of the Pharmacology Department of the College, and the plants in the station include iris plants from the farm of the German University of Leipzig and plants imported from Holland, Japan and Germany. A library in the pharmacology department of the college contains some student products for the winning students in the essential oils exhibition competition, which is held annually as a student activity.

   
   

It is noteworthy that the center is funded by a grant from the STDF fund of 10 million pounds and includes devices such as NMR - LC/MS/MS - GC/MS - HPLC/PDA - MPLC - HPTLC -UV.

At the end of the visit, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of the University, expressed his gratitude for these services that contribute to scientific research and the pharmaceutical industry in Egypt.
