The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research hosts the National Dialogue for Children and holds the Young Climate Ambassador course

The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research at Ain Shams University hosted the National Dialogue for Children, which is carried out by the Ministry of Environment in cooperation with the Eye of the Environment Association under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

In her opening speech, Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, expressed her happiness at the presence of the Young Climate Ambassadors Program, stressing that it is necessary for future generations to have sufficient awareness of climatic and environmental issues and appropriate behaviors to preserve the environment around them, encouraging the young ambassadors participating in the events. To rationalize electricity and energy in all possible ways.

Whereas, Prof. Dr. Noha Samir Donia, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, stated that the future generations are climate ambassadors within their surrounding communities and schools, adding that the Faculty of Environmental Studies and Research is the academic arm of the state to support the green urbanization initiative and raise awareness of climate change and environmental preservation, especially in the new youth of the future.

Subsequently, the Faculty of Environment held the Young Climate Ambassadors Course in cooperation with the Million Volunteers Foundation for Climate Change.

Prof. Dr. Alaa Sarhan, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, said that the participating children are not only little ambassadors for the climate, but are also the leaders of tomorrow and the locomotive for preserving the surrounding environment.

Dr. Amani El-Shahat Suleiman, Awareness and Information Officer at the General Administration of NGOs at the Ministry of Environment, said that the Environment Eye Society organizes this day in partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Environment to spread environmental awareness and activate the role of children in addressing the problem of climate change.

Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, Coordinator of the Children's University at Ain Shams University, reviewed an overview of the Children's University project, expressing her happiness with its presence within the rehabs of Ain Shams University and the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research and encouraged parents to register their children at the Children's University in order to participate and integrate within their community outside the walls of their schools, calling not to underestimate The role of these children.

Dr. Nadia Al-Masry, an expert in the Eye of the Environment Association, explained the extent of the association's cooperation with the Ministry of Environment in holding the national dialogue for all segments of society.

Dr. Reham Farouk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Protectors of the Earth magazine, said in her speech during the events the need to spread environmental awareness in several different ways, stressing that Protectors of the Earth magazine will issue a free series to raise awareness of several environmental files.

Mrs. Hanan Zaki, a member of the National Council for Women, said that preserving the environment has become a necessity of life, and human practices must respect it, as it is not a form of luxury.

She added that the industrial revolution and the gases resulting from the combustion of fossil gases led to significant and accelerated climate changes, and that the National Council for Women holds several sessions to educate women about the need to recycle waste and safely dispose of electronic waste.

Today’s activities included hosting about 300 children from several public and private schools, and they visited the Faculty’s green transformation unit and the Shams Bee Green project, and participated in several training courses to learn about waste and water recycling methods, safe disposal of electronic waste and surface farming techniques.

The events come within the framework of the Arab Republic of Egypt’s preparation to host the twenty-seventh session of the Conference of the Parties to Climate COP-27, which is one of the largest conventions and meetings of the United Nations, which will be held next November in Sharm El-Sheikh and as part of the efforts of the Egyptian state, the Ministry of Environment and Ain Shams University to raise awareness of the issue of climate change.
