Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Eldamaty, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hossam Tantawy, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Archeology for Education and Student Affairs, the Faculty of Archeology began implementing the summer training plan for students of the faculty's programs at the undergraduate level.
Prof. Dr. Hossam Tantawy, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, said that the field training and practical visits to the students of the Faculty come within the framework of its administration’s adoption of modern methods of teaching and learning, making room for non-traditional methods far from the traditional lecture, enhancing learning skills and introducing students to the nature of workflow in museums and related archaeological and heritage sites. By educating them, and providing them with applied and practical skills that are directly or indirectly related to the labor market.
Dr. Eman Nuseer, Director of the Field and Practical Training Unit at the Faculty of Archeology, Ain Shams University, pointed out that the Faculty of Archeology’s adoption and approval of a field training plan for its students during the summer vacation is consistent with the interest of the Supreme Council of Universities to implement a plan for activities during the end of the current academic year vacation, and that the field training unit had previously set up A plan for summer training for its students, and it was approved by the Faculty Council. It aims to train students in museums and archaeological sites on the work of documentation and registration in its various forms and types, and the encroachments and procedures related to them...etc, and to participate in excavations and various restoration projects to identify raw materials and the methods of industry, decoration, methods and methods of restoration in general, and the companies executing them.
In turn, Dr. Rawan Adel, Deputy Director of the Field and Practical Training Unit, and the Summer Training Coordinator for Students, announced the start of the first summer field training on Saturday, 25/6/2022 in the Zafaran Palace Development Project, the Al-Zahir Baybars Mosque Development Project in Al-Zahir Square, and Al Sayeda Zainab Mosque Development Project in Al-Sayeda Zainab Square. The trainings aim to teach students the first principles of general restoration and introduce students to the various raw materials and materials used in their maintenance and restoration. The trainings continue with the aforementioned restoration projects for a full week, and at the end of the training period, the trainee obtains a certificate from the authorities supervising the aforementioned projects.
