Adviser to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs inaugurates the Tenth International Conference on Hematology and Marrow Transplantation at the Faculty of Medicine

Yesterday opened Prof. Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs, the activities of the tenth annual international conference of the Egyptian Society of Hematology and Marrow Transplantation of the Hematology and Marrow Transplant Unit, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Osama Mansour, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Nevin Nabil Mustafa, Professor of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, and President of the Conference, Prof. Dr. Hussein Khaled, former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and former President of Cairo University, Prof. Dr. Essam Abdel Wahed, Head of the Department of Hematology and Marrow Transplantation, Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Moussa, professor of hematology and bone marrow transplantation at Ain Shams Medicine, and a group of professors and consultants from various Egyptian universities and doctors from different countries of the world; Including England, the United States of America, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

         
   
         

During his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din said that hematology is one of the important disciplines that fall within the priorities of the health agenda in Egypt, pointing to the importance of holding such scientific conferences that achieve the philosophy of continuous education and learning, and praised the remarkable development witnessed by Ain Shams University hospitals and the great role it played In providing health care at the highest level for all segments of Egyptian society.

He explained that the lectures, workshops and presentation of disease cases during the events of such scientific conferences contribute to the development of a clear strategy for managing the patient's medical condition.

He added that studying the economics of health care is critical to determine the effectiveness of treatments and medicines on the market compared to their economic cost.

         
   
         

During the activities of the two-day conference, participants will review the latest methods of marrow transplantation and the latest drugs in the treatment of blood diseases, and a film was shown showing the major renovations witnessed by the Hematology and Marrow Transplant Unit at Ain Shams Medicine, which includes the first intensive care unit for patients with Isolation and bone marrow transplantation, which includes 10 intensive care beds for people with weak immunity, as well as autologous marrow transplantation and day treatment clinics, which receive approximately 32 patients per day, as well as inpatients, which include 25 beds for blood and marrow transplant patients.

The conference also witnessed the announcement of the latest medical device to treat all stages of expulsion after bone marrow transplantation, which is the phototherapy device, which is the only device in Egypt, within the framework of interest in bone marrow transplant cases and within the framework of the political leadership’s directives to expand cases of bone marrow transplantation to eliminate waiting lists in this the field.
