Ain Shams University held today, Saturday, an international seminar in cooperation with the German Aachen University under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and in cooperation with the University's International Cooperation Sector headed by Prof. Dr. Shahira Mousa.
The seminar is held under the title “Dialogue between East and West and Opportunities for Convergence” and contains four scientific papers presented by Prof. Harald Swermann, Professor of History at Aachen University, Dr. Cornelis Holsmann, Professor of Sociology in the Netherlands, Prof. Tarek Mansour, Professor at Ain Shams University, and Dr. Samer Kandil, Faculty of Arts. The papers deal with the importance of civilized dialogue between East and West and its role in correcting misconceptions in the West about the East, as well as the image of Islam in Europe in the Middle Ages, and the Arab conquest of Egypt and its importance in consolidating human relations between Arabs and Egyptians throughout history.
