Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, received German and Egyptian students from the fifth batch of the joint master's program in specialized translation of Arabic and German between Ain Shams University and the German University of Leipzig, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Attia, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Amani Kamal Saleh, head of the German language department at the Faculty and program coordinator from the Egyptian side, Dr. Abdel Hamid Marzouk, d. Asim Amari.
During his speech, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, said that the visit coincides with the opening of admission for a new batch of the joint master’s program with the German University of Leipzig, and this program is unique in specialized translation in Egypt and the Middle East, where the Faculty of Al-Alsun Ain Shams University opens its doors for graduates of the German language departments in all Faculties in Egypt to enroll in it.
Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University, confirmed that the joint program provides the opportunity for Egyptian and German students for an expanded scientific exchange, as the students of the program spend the second semester in Cairo in accordance with the agreement between the two sides in Cairo at the Faculty of Al-Alsun after they finish studying in the first winter semester at Leipzig University In Germany, with double financial support from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Erasmus Plus.
She explained that the duration of the study in the program is four semesters, the student spends the first semester at the partner German university and the second semester in Cairo.
While Prof. Dr. Amani Kamal Saleh, Head of the German Language Department and Program Coordinator from the Egyptian side, said that the program is unique in teaching specialized legal, economic, technical and medical translation in particular, by a group of experts in the field of specialization and the labor market, as well as translation technology and computer-assisted translation programs in major specialized companies.
She added that in the framework of the program, in addition to the exchange of students, professors are exchanged annually to consult with partners about the program, its development and any developments related to the program, as well as giving a series of lectures in translation to students.
The meeting witnessed an extensive dialogue with the German and Egyptian students and the teaching staff of the program Prof. Dr. Amani Kamal, Dr. Abdel Hamid Marzouk, Dr. Assem Al-Ammari, and listened to the views of students from both sides about the scientific benefits of the semester in Cairo and Germany, and whether there were any comments or suggestions for developing the program.
The students from both sides praised the great scientific benefit from the professors in charge of the German language department at the faculty, as well as the Department of Arabic Language in Al-Alsun and the Department of German Language at the Faculty of Languages and Translation at Al-Azhar University, as well as the practical side, and the expertise and efficiency of the professors. Reception and acquaintance, equipped classrooms, the scientific material presented, and the permanent communication of professors with them.
