Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, witnessed the conclusion of the Earth Day celebration activities by holding a sports marathon under the slogan "No To Smoking", which is organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Ain Shams University on April 20-21, coinciding with World Earth Day and corresponding to 22 April, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Gehan Ragab, Professor of Marketing at the Faculty of Commerce and Advisor to the Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Yassin El-Shazly, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law for Community Service and Environmental Development, Mr. Suhail Hamza, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for the Sector, Dr. Sahar Latif Labib, Director of the Anti-Combat Department Smoking at the Ministry of Health, and Mr. Yasser Helmy Al-Nagar, General Controller of Smoking at the Ministry of Health, with the participation of Family for Central Egypt students.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, stressed the university's constant keenness to activate its environmental and societal role, noting that the Earth Day celebration activities came to urge students to preserve the environment, raise the level of social responsibility of the university community towards the environment, and contribute to reducing environmental pollution.
He added that the activities included the expansion of green spaces, landscaping and improvements, in addition to launching a sports marathon in all faculties of the university under the slogan "No to Smoking".
On his part, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, indicated that the events also include the university faculties holding awareness seminars for students, workers, faculty members and the supporting body on the importance of preserving the environment and climate changes to raise their awareness about the climate change file and the various ways that contribute to facing the negative effects. The result of it and ways to reduce it under the name of "Green University" in order to motivate the university community to assume social responsibility and support the environment.
It is worth noting that the students participating in the marathon raised banners bearing the slogan “No to Smoking” and wore T-shirts bearing the slogan donated by the Ministry of Health and Population. and environmental development.
