Ain Shams University lights up in green in celebration of World Earth Day

Within the framework of the events organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at Ain Shams University in celebration of the World Earth Day, which falls on April 22, the Saffron Palace, the headquarters of the university administration, was lit in green from 7 pm to 9 pm for a period of three days from 20 to 22 April.

         
   
         

The Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Ain Shams University had announced the holding of several events on April 20 and 21, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Hisham Temraz, Vice President of Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Abdel-Fattah Saoud Vice President of Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Postgraduate Studies and Research, and coordination of Prof. Dr. Jihan Ragab, Professor of Marketing and at the Faculty of Business, and advisor to the Vice President of Community Service and Environmental Development, and the supervision of Mr. Suhail Hamza, the University's Assistant Secretary-General for the Sector.

         
     
         

Prof. Dr. Jihan Ragab, Advisor to the Vice President of Community Service and Environmental Development, stated that the events aim to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the environment, activating the university’s role in preserving it, raising the level of social responsibility and contributing to reducing environmental pollution.

She added that the activities include planting trees on the campus of Ain Shams University and the vicinity of the campus, in addition to aesthetically trimming trees in the university and the university's surroundings, with the screening of films related to the rationalization of (water - energy) consumption on university screens, and social media, in addition to holding a sports marathon and launching a no-smoking campaign.

The events also include the university faculties holding awareness seminars for students, staff, faculty staff, and the teaching assistants on the importance of preserving the environment and climate changes, to raise their awareness about the climate change file and the various ways that contribute to confronting the negative effects resulting from it and ways to reduce them under the name “Green University” with the aim of Motivating the university community to assume social responsibility and support the environment.
