The Faculty of Engineering students win third place in the real life competition 2022
Students of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University won third place in the real life competition 2022, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Mostafa Refaat, Vice Dean of Education and Student Affairs, and organized by the American University.
The (ASU1) team participated in the competition, which included the students:

Students in the third year of the Water and Hydraulic Structures Program, along with the participation of 58 teams.
The competition is concerned with energy management, rationalization of its consumption, water management, control of water resources, maximizing effective beneficial use of them, and managing land to cope with the massive increase in population.

The students chose the subject of water scarcity, which is the biggest challenge facing Egypt at the present time due to the increased demand for water and the limited water resources available.
To meet this challenge, the student team presented the idea of water recycling where the gray water produced by the family is treated through a water treatment plant built into the house, and then the treated water is reused for some purposes other than drinking inside the house, and irrigating the green spaces in the houses, as well as The treated water can be integrated into existing irrigation systems and used to irrigate green spaces in the city.
This system is considered environmentally friendly and they suggested operating it using photovoltaic solar panels. The students also reviewed the economic and social aspects of the proposed system and linked it to the concepts of sustainability and future expansions.
