Ain Shams University continues its support for the countries of the African continent and is looking into ways of cooperation in the State of Somalia

In continuation to the efforts of Ain Shams University headed by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini in support of the African neighboring countries, met with a. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdel Samad Hassan Mohamed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Graduate Studies in the State of Somalia, in a meeting that included Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Galal, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Prof. Dr. Nagwa Badr, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Prof. Dr. Hazem Rashid, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Prof. Dr. Mostafa Refaat, director of the International Cooperation Department, and Prof. Dr. Sherwat Al-Ahmadi, Director of Expatriates Department, and Prof. Dr. Tamer Emara, Director of the Office of International Cooperation, Faculty of Medicine.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud that Ain Shams University is one of the prestigious Egyptian academic and research institutions that are keen to build bridges of cooperation with the countries of the African continent in general and with the sister country of Somalia in particular, pointing out that Egypt is the heart of the African continent and supports sustainable development plans in the countries of the continent and development plans According to the African Union Agenda 2063.

a. Dr.. Abdel-Fattah Saud explained that the meeting aims to discuss cooperation between the Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University and Gezira University in Somalia in the field of cultivating arid lands for optimal uses of water, as well as cooperation with the Faculty of Computers and Information at Ain Shams University and its counterpart at Gezira University in Somalia, as well as cooperation between the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University. Shams and Al Jazeera University in Somalia in the field of preparing Somali teachers.

In addition to following up on previous aspects of cooperation with the State of Somalia in a number of medical and research fields, noting that Ain Shams University has spared no effort in providing all means of support to advance the educational process in various countries of the continent.

Dr. Abdul Samad Hassan Mohamed praised the efforts of Ain Shams University and its great cooperation in a number of medical fields, which Ain Shams University pioneered in introducing for the first time in the State of Somalia, including the inauguration of the first postgraduate degree in medicine in the State of Somalia, and the granting of a master’s degree in ophthalmology, within the framework of Memorandum of Understanding signed between Ain Shams University and Gezira University in Mogadishu, Somalia.

As well as the opening of the first unit for treating strokes at the level of the eastern African continent in the State of Somalia, in cooperation between Ain Shams University Hospitals and Al-Jazeera Teaching Hospitals in the State of Somalia.

As well as supporting Ain Shams University Hospitals, especially Ain Shams Virtual Hospital, for remote detection and patient care, as well as providing academic and practical education for medical staff in the State of Somalia working in the stroke treatment unit, as well as technical and technical support for electronic patient data registration and the creation of an archived database that includes Their medical and health history.

Ain Shams University also supervised teaching courses, training Somali students at Ain Shams University hospitals, establishing the organizational structure for assessment and examination, and giving lectures remotely through Ain Shams Virtual Hospital.

Dr. Abdul Samad said that the success of cooperation with Ain Shams University over the previous years prompted the Somali side to discuss ways of cooperation in a number of new educational and academic fields, especially in agriculture, computers, information and education.

Ain Shams University continues to cooperate with the State of Somalia in confirmation of the Egyptian-African relations and joint cooperation between the two countries, considering Egypt the heart of the African continent.
