Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Prof. Dr. Mostafa Refaat, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Education and Student Affairs, Ain Shams University won first place in the fourth track on smart transportation and traffic on Saturday, March 26, 2022, as part of the smart city hackathon activities organized by Benha University for digital transformation and knowledge economy with the participation of 478 teams representing 50 universities An Egyptian company, in cooperation with Amazon Services, and with the support of El Sewedy, Orange and the National Bank of Egypt, to motivate young programmers, people with ideas and visions to present their ideas and program projects in order to contribute to the development of cities and participate in the construction of the new administrative capital.
The team of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University consisted of 5 male and female students from the third year of the Computer Engineering Program, Software Systems and International Accredited Programs, and they are:

They competed with the rest of the universities until the projects were filtered to 40 work teams representing 25 Egyptian and private universities according to specific competitive fields and tracks, namely smart buildings, smart facilities/smart parks, transportation, smart traffic, smart hospitals, smart recycling, smart monitoring, smart energy, smart management, and smart schools and universities.
The university team won first place in the fourth track related to transportation and traffic, followed by Nile University in second place and German University in third place.
The university team won three prizes: The Hackathon Prize for first place in the field of transportation and traffic, at a value of five thousand pounds, the second prize of the same value, presented by El Sewedy Digital, and an award presented by the best offer from Amazon Web Services AWS.
