Ain Shams University and its role in the Egyptian - Arab societies... A conference of the Middle East Research Center

Within the framework of Ain Shams University’s celebrations of the 70th anniversary of its founding (1950 - 2020), the Middle East Research and Future Studies Center held the “Ain Shams University and its Role in the Egyptian-Arab Societies” conference, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University and Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz Vice President for Community Affairs and Environmental Development, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center, and Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mouns, Director of the Center and General Rapporteur of the Conference.

The conference consists of four sessions held over two days.

The activities of the first day of the conference began with the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mounis, Director of the Center, where he welcomed the lecturers and attendees, then His Excellency shed light on the history of the establishment of Ain Shams University and the most important personalities who were behind its establishment, as it is the third Egyptian university and has many white hands in the scientific and academic field It plays a prominent and effective role in enriching scientific research and graduating thousands of cadres and scientific expertise.

After the opening speech, the first session began under the chairmanship of His Excellency the former Minister of Culture and the great writer Helmy Al-Namnam, and a number of intellectuals, politicians and university professors participated in it. At the end of it, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mounis presented certificates of honor to the lecturers to express his appreciation for their efforts and their rich knowledge.

This was followed by the second session, chaired by Prof. Dr. Assem El-Desouky, Professor of Modern and Contemporary History and former Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Helwan University, in which a group of university professors and researchers participated.

At the conclusion of the second session, the attendees participated in Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, who commented on the topic of the conference and the research presented, as well as highlighting the role of education and its role in the advancement and progress of societies. His Excellency also spoke about the role of the environment sector, community service and development convoys in Halayeb and Shalateen in order to serve the Egyptian citizen to live a dignified life, then His Excellency presented certificates of honor to the lecturers in appreciation of their fruitful efforts and outstanding research.
