Yesterday morning, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Amira Youssef, Dean of the Faculty of Girls, the second conference in the Science Week at the Faculty of Girls, under the title “Development issues between present challenges and future visions” at the Faculty’s theater, which will continue until March 24, 2022, in the presence of the vice deans and conference rapporteurs Prof. Dr. Hanan Al-Shaer, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Heba Barakat, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Mai Helmy, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and a group of professors, faculty members, and the faculty’s supporting staff.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, expressed his happiness at honoring the deans, deans and all the Faculty professors for their efforts in the previous period, directing an invitation to organize a day-long conference in the Faculty in the presence of all the former faculty deans and professors to work on developing a vision and a future vision, and presented many ideas in how the Faculty plan becomes after several years.
He praised the role of the Women’s Faculty in being not only a faculty, but rather a comprehensive university, as it contains many sectors such as the scientific, humanitarian and educational sectors, in addition to its long history. It deserves further development and continuity, which will also raise the university’s global ranking.
His Excellency also honored a group of faculty staff, deans and former vice deans for their efforts and what they have done and what they have done in raising the status of the faculty.
On his part, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, stressed the importance of linking what is taught and what is learned to what the labor market needs in confirmation of what His Excellency the President of the Republic mentioned two weeks ago.
He pointed out that when the door to applying for an exam was opened in preparation for obtaining a professional course or certificate by an international company in the field of computers, 300,000 young Egyptian computer graduates, unfortunately, passed, only 118 of them passed, which shows that there is indeed a problem between what students learn and the labor market in Egypt and the Arab countries, so there must be changes, modifications or skills development for students that in turn will lead to better job opportunities.
His Excellency explained that Ain Shams University offers opportunities to grant a professional diploma offered in geographic information systems and remote sensing in cooperation with the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, as it qualifies graduates of geography, engineering, science, and education and provides them with the opportunity to train on GIS applications. It also gives students from other universities the opportunity to obtain a diploma.
He pointed to the importance of scientific circles, as they did with regard to basic chemistry, physics and mathematics, hoping that they would extend to other sciences such as geography, literature and education so that many researches would be conducted together to benefit together and raise the status and value of scientific research.
Prof. Ayman Saleh thanked the Faculty for Girls, praising its permanent excellence and wishing it more leadership in all fields.

She also confirmed that the opening of the annual conference comes from Egypt's Vision 2030, which aims at comprehensive sustainable development and balanced regional development through the participation of all institutions in achieving sustainable economic growth, promoting investment in people and building their creative capabilities by urging an increase in knowledge and innovation in all fields. The second secondary conference came during the Science Week, entitled “Development issues between the challenges of the present and the future,” as it aims to participate in achieving the sustainable development strategy and Egypt’s vision 2030 in all its fields, creating opportunities and challenges for a better tomorrow, and emphasizing the leadership and pioneering role of women in achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030. The axes of the conference stem from the three dimensions of sustainable development that reflect Egypt’s vision 2030, where the first axis came about “contemporary and future economic challenges,” the second axis came “contemporary and future social challenges,” and the third axis came about “contemporary and future environmental challenges.”
She added that the conference covered the faculty's three sectors, "the Graduate Studies Sector" through its participation in the follow-up to the conferences of the scientific departments, the "Student Affairs Sector" by following up and organizing a set of celebrations, events and student workshops, and the "community service and environmental development sector" through coordination of a group of Seminars, sessions and scientific workshops that contribute to covering all themes of the conference. This program is diversified and exploits the distinctive diversity of the Faculty for Girls through the diversity of its sectors and departments between scientific, educational and literary. The program is rich with its studies that achieve the goals of the conference through 100 activities during the Science Week.
Her Excellency indicated that the best thing to do with the opening of the conference today is to honor those who contributed to the advancement of the Faculty for Girls throughout these years as a beacon of science and culture, who were and still are the beacon of science in their specialties.
Prof. Heba Barakat, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development and the conference’s rapporteur, confirmed that the launch of the 2030 vision, which aims at comprehensive sustainable development and balanced regional development through the participation of all institutions in achieving high, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, promoting investment in people and building their creative capabilities, with the vision of urging Increasing knowledge and innovation in all fields, and in line with Egypt 2030 and its sustainable development strategy, where the empowerment of women and activating their participation in all aspects of national action came to confront and integrate present challenges and contribute to solving future challenges.
As directed by Prof. Dr. Hanan Al-Shaer, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, that the decision of thanks and appreciation to the university and its leadership for its keenness and continuous support for the Faculty of Girls, and to all those who participated in the conference, wishing that the conference would be successful and constructive that yields everything new in all fields and sciences.
On the sidelines of the conference, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, opened the Handicrafts Festival, which was organized by the Department of Home Economics at the Faculty of Girls, as part of the activities of the department’s conference within the framework of participation in the Science Week and the Faculty’s conference under the title “Development issues between present challenges and future visions.” The unit also inspects the plant propagation and quality measurement unit.
