Baheya Hospital educates Faculty of Al-Alsun students about breast cancer

The Education and Student Sector, and the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, in cooperation with Baheya Hospital, and the Scots Committee of the Faculty Students’ Union, organized a symposium entitled Breast Cancer Awareness, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nasser Abdel Aal, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Youmna Safwat, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

         
   
         

During the seminar, Dr. Yasmine Mohamed Gamil, Diagnostic and Internal Radiology Specialist at Baheya Hospital, for the most important symptoms of breast cancer, such as the appearance of a lump in the breast or redness of the skin, and any changes that may appear with the naked eye, and she went on to talk about ways to prevent breast cancer, and from The most important of them are following a healthy lifestyle, exercising, avoiding alcohol or smoking, and reaching an ideal weight.

         
   
         

She reviewed the methods of self-examination for women to check on themselves, and stressed that any woman who has reached the age of forty must go to Baheya Hospital for an examination once a year to detect the disease early and treat it before the condition progresses and the cure rate reaches 98%, as well as for those who If they have a family history of breast cancer, they should go for tests 10 years younger than the female relative’s age at diagnosis, at least 30 years old.

Mrs. Nourhan Hani, public relations specialist and responsible for awareness seminars at Baheya Hospital, dealt with the history of the establishment of the hospital and the selection of its name; She returned it to Mrs. Bahia from the family of Othman Ahmed Othman, who died of breast cancer, so the hospital building was built on the land she lived in, and indicated that international statistics confirm that one out of every eight women is exposed to the disease, so the hospital administration roams the governorates of the Republic to educate Egyptian women about early detection and treatment of the disease.

         
   
         

She also reviewed the hospital units and the methods of treatment and care they provide to women, and stressed that we should not call women who treat beautiful women patients; Rather, they are fighters because they are fighting a cursed enemy, which is breast cancer.

In conclusion, Prof. Dr. Nasser Abdel-Al, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, handed over certificates of appreciation and the Shield of the Faculty Students’ Union to the participants in the symposium from Baheya Breast Cancer Hospital, in appreciation of their efforts in combating the disease and opening the hospital door to everyone who suffers from any symptoms.
