The meeting of the graduates of the Italian language department with faculty staff and students of the third and fourth year at the Faculty of Al-Alsun

Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University, opened the activities of the meeting day with the graduates of the Italian Language Department, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Marwa Abdel Moneim Tantawi, Head of the Italian Language Department and Prof. Dr. Suzan Badi Iskandar Emeritus Professor of Literature at the Department and Dr. Naden Makram Yaqoub Wassef, literature teacher in the department and coordinator of the Bachelor of Al-Alsun program in Italian language and literature.

She emphasized during her speech that the Italian Language Department is one of the oldest and most important departments in the Faculty, which is strongly required for the labor market, and has a distinguished reputation globally and in the labor market. She stressed that the Faculty administration works to interact with graduates to quickly meet the needs of the labor market and to listen to their suggestions regarding the development of Faculty programs.

She continued her speech, noting the development that the Faculty had witnessed during the past short period in terms of infrastructure, such as the new electronic halls, on the one hand, and on the level of offering specialized translation programs, such as the specialized translation program in Italian and other languages ​​in the Faculty, which began to receive students during the academic year. current in order to keep pace with developments in the labor market.

The Dean of the Faculty referred to the institutional accreditation that the Faculty obtained in 2015 and the Faculty’s continued adoption of quality standards at all levels, including in the first place the development of the educational process to qualify graduates for the labor market in a distinctive way, as well as providing students with the skills required to join the jobs required in the labor market, besides Academic part.

She went on to stress that the educational process is not limited to receiving linguistics only in the lecture halls; But it extends, as is the case in the Italian Language Department, to participating in the various activities organized by the department in cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Cairo, as well as expanding the student’s perceptions by dealing with language people at the embassy and on various occasions to learn about the culture of their society and develop the use of the language and its skills.

During her speech, she welcomed Mrs. Dr. Marwa Tantawi, Professor of Italian Literature and Head of the Italian Language Department, welcomed the guests, and expressed her happiness with this meeting, which includes a group of the most prominent graduates who have held prestigious positions in various fields and includes generations far apart in time, but is linked by the main house that affected their working lives, and expressed her gratitude for their interest Participate in imparting their experiences to the new students

According to the course of the questions posed to the participants in the meeting, I spoke to Prof. Dr. Suzan Badee Iskandar on the history of the establishment of the Faculty and the department, where the historical roots of the Faculty of Al-Alsun refer to the school founded by Sheikh Rifa’a Rafe’ Al-Tahtawi, which was reopened in the modern era in 1956 (in French and Italian) and was concerned with translation and the preparation of translators, and on its basis the list of Al-Alsun High School (which was affiliated to the Ministry of Education at the time) and the batch consisted of thirty students at the time. According to what she recounted, the Italian side was interested in the travel of the top ten students to Italy from the first batch of studies to qualify them to work as teachers in secondary schools.

When the opportunity presents itself, Prof. Dr. Susan presented her official papers and passed the interview that was appointed in its wake to be the first teaching assistant at the Faculty of Al-Alsun. As a result of her appointment, a scientific mission was provided for her at state expense to obtain a doctorate in modern Italian literature, which she obtained from the University of Rome (currently La Sapienza) in 1966.

Prof. Dr. Suzan Badiee Iskandar briefly described her experience with the department's students in research, study, and self-learning, and its importance in forming it in the fields of teaching, scientific research and translation.

She concluded her speech by noting that language is nothing but an expression of the various aspects of life, and it is the human entity on earth. Therefore, the study in the department in which she has worked since her graduation works on developing the student's linguistic sense in various literary, scientific, political, social, and other fields.

Dr. Nadine Makram Yakoub Wassef, literature teacher in the department, coordinator of the Bachelor of Al-Alsun program in Italian language and literature, and organizer of the meeting, pointed to the distinction points of the Bachelor’s program that the department’s graduates testify about, including the honorable models that attended the meeting. She presented what the department has sought to document in terms of excellence in recent years, especially since the college adopted program accreditation standards, which culminated in this meeting by achieving communication between the department and its students and graduates.

The meeting was attended by the department’s graduates from different batches that extended from 1984 until the last batch in 2021. Among the attendees were Mrs. Maha Abdel-Rahman through Al-Fattah, Senior Central Instructor at the Directorate of Education, and Mrs. Ahlam Ali Ahmed Abu Al-Saud, Senior Instructor of the National Center for Examinations and Educational Evaluation Forum, Mr. Sherif Rasmi Labib Naseem, who has been working for years in the management of the Italian Cultural Institute, and Mrs. Eman Saeed Abdullah, who works as a pre-university teacher. This is in addition to an elite group of graduates in the fields of translation, economics, management, teaching, tourism and public relations.

The graduates of the department presented their experiences in the labor market and how to overcome the difficulties they faced. The graduates confirmed that graduating from Al-Alsun is the starting point towards success in the labor market, stressing that Alsun graduates are very much wanted in the labor market despite the increasing numbers, which became more than needed, they answered students’ questions and inquiries, emphasizing the importance of self-learning, and that failure and working in jobs that might be called mediocre does not mean the end of the journey, but rather an opportunity to learn and it is part of the journey.

The meeting ended in an atmosphere of cordiality and looking forward to other meetings of this kind.
