The minister explained that 300 scholarships were approved this year at a total cost of 66 million pounds, and the total value of each grant is about 220,000 pounds, including a monthly stipend for 30 months, worth four thousand pounds per month and a maximum of 100,000 pounds; With the aim of covering research expenses, purchasing chemicals and materials needed for research, analyzes and questionnaires, registration fees in public universities, training at home or abroad for a short period with guarantees and prior approvals from the Academy, as well as attending international conferences, and the costs of publishing research in prestigious journals Q1, Q2.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar indicated that the total number of applicants this year amounted to 2,967 applicants, of whom 1,530 completed all the required data, and the number of female applicants reached 1,163 with a rate of up to 76%, and the results showed that the accepted graduates from 44 universities at the level of Egyptian universities, the largest share was Alexandria University, then Mansoura University, Cairo University came in third place, and Ain Shams University ranked fourth.
On his part, Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, said that the selection of scholarship students came on a competitive basis among applicants in the announced fields, which are consistent with Egypt's vision for sustainable development and the development of Egypt's border regions, noting that the grant fields aim to contribute to building a strong scientific base in Basic sciences, bridging the technological gap and providing the requirements of the labor market, and the needs of the national industry, as well as contributing to finding solutions to the problems facing society.
Dr. Mahmoud Saqr added that the grants covered a number of fields, including: personalized, precise and molecular medicine, clinical pharmacy, genetics, clinical and preclinical research, new methods of drug delivery, mathematics, physics, geology, biology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, bioinformatics, and physics.
